Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now Available for Both Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 WiFi and LTE Models

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now available almost for all variants of Samsung 2013 and 2014 devices ( smartphones and tablets) and now this new update is coming to one of their mid-range tablets.

According to Sammobile website the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now being pushed out to both Wi-Fi and LTE variants of Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. The new update is currently being seeded in Europe IN Spain for the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-T530) Wi-Fi variant and in Nordic countries for LTE-enabled Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-535) where the new firmware is based on Android 5.0.2 and comes with the same build number for both Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 variants: XXU1BOD8.

The new Lollipop iteration comes with numerous changes and features such as new design philosophy called Material Design which is especially created to make the user experience smother and more colorful, Android Runtime (ART), support for lock screen notifications with individual privacy and priority for each application, Smart Lock, search functionality within the settings app, Screen Pinning, card-based interface for the Overview section (formerly known as Recents), TouchWiz UI to make it follow the Material Design guidelines, redesigned and updated Samsung native apps, better battery statistics, improved multi-user support, and more.

As you can see that we are dealing with a major update, it is expected to have a size of aver 1GB, and that’s reason we are recommending you to use a stable Wi-Fi connection to download the same in order to avoid unwanted data charges.

Just like any other new firmware update, the new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 versions is being rolled out to users in stages. This means, not all users will be able to download and install it in the same time. Normally, when your device becomes eligible to receive the new Lollipop update, an automatically message should appear in the device’s notifications bar and all that you need to do is to tap on it, select “Download Now”, then wait until the download of firmware file is completed, and then chose “Install Now”.

Once the new update is successfully installed, your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 device should reboot and display the new Lollipop’s UI.

In case the new automatically system update notification doesn’t appear you should try to make a manually verification under Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for software updates.

In addition, the new Android 5.0.2 firmware is also available for download via KIES software, so connect the USB data cable to your computer, insert the USB cable on your tablet, and launch the KIES application.
