How to root Amazon Kindle Fire and install TWRP recovery with Kindle Fire Utility

Today you will learn a method to root the Amazon Kindle Fire device and install TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project).

A member of XDA developers named Vashypooh share with us the Kindle Fire Utility.  It is a powerful tool that allows you to root the Kindle Fire using the BurritoRoot.  It is the same tool that installs the TWRP custom recovery image.  You should take the backup of all data before you start applying the ROOT process you risk losing your data stored in the internal memory of your android device.

Pre-requisites:

Root Amazon Kindle Fire and install TWRP recovery with Kindle Fire Utility

 First download the Kindle Fire Utility from the following link here and save it in your computer.

  1. Now, Extract the tool’s files using an extractor zip archive like 7 zip, WinRar or WinZip in a single folder.
  2. Install the Kindle Fire USB drivers and for that   double click on the ‘install_drivers’ .bat file.
  3. Connect your Kindle Fire device to your computer with the help of the USB cord.
  4. Now, in the same folder where you unzipped the downloaded file, double click the ‘Run’ .bat file. This will start the Kindle Fire utility app will start, and the ADB Status will set to continue.
  5. Now to root the Kindle Fire Utility, select the next option’install permanent root with superuser’, press the ‘3’ key to complete the step.
  6. Now, for installing the TWRP recovery image, go and select ‘install latest TWRP Recovery’ option.
  7. When the root and the TWRP recovery image are successfully completed, you need to select the ‘boot mode’ by pressing the ’1? button.
  8. Now, press ‘1’?   Select ‘normal’ and  after that your Kindle Fire device will boot normally.

Congratulations, now your Kindle Fire device should be rooted. To verify if your device is rooted or not install the Root Checker tool.  Note: If your device cannot boot and gets stuck with a yellow triangle displayed, choose “boot normal, in KF utility and after that you need to wait for this to act.

After that you need to press and hold the ‘Power’ around 20 seconds until the devices is power off.

In case, your Kindle Fire device gets stuck at the yellow triangle, make sure the windows drivers show you the “kindle” text.
