CF Auto Root is a powerful application that is developed especially to root the first stock Android 4.4 KitKat on Google Nexus 5 device.

Before starting the root procedure you need to follow some prerequisites that are required to be applied:

  • All information, instructions and root files work only for Google Nexus 5 device, don’t try this guide on any other device, otherwise remain ready to face the consequences.
  • The Google Nexus 5 device scheduled for rooting process need to have an unlocked bootloader.

  • Important: The unlocking bootloader process will delete all data stored into device’ internal memory.

  • Ensure that the USB Debugging Mode is enabling, you can do this from Developer Option menu.
  • Note: If the Developer Option menu isn’t displayed in your device’ Settings menu, you need to go to the ‘About Phone’ and then in the Build Number text tap seven times.
  • Make sure that the device’ battery charge level has more than 65 % power left, otherwise the device may face forced power off in the middle of the rooting process.

Root Android 4.4 KitKat for Google Nexus 5 device using a CF Auto Root application:

  1. First, download the CF-Root zip file from here.
  2. Second, extract the downloaded zip file and save them in a single folder on your computer’s desktop folder.
  3. Turn off the Nexus 5 smartphone.
  4. Boot the device into Download Mode, to do this press and keep holding the Volume Down and Power button at the same time until the Bootloader /Fastboot menu will be displayed.
  5. Now, open the folder created in step 2.
  6. In the empty space of the folder press and hold the Shift button from your PC keyboard and select the “open command prompt window here”.
  7. When the windows CMD appears you can move to the next step.
  8. Connect the Google Nexus 5 device to the PC via USB Cable.
  9. Into the CMD window enter the following command in order to confirm that the Google Nexus 5 device is fully recognized by the computer: fastboot devices.
  10. In case the smartphone is not detected, you need to reinstall the Google Nexus USB drivers once again and repeat the entire step by step guide process.
  11. Now, for applying the root process, enter the next command line: root-windows.bat
  12. Note: if you’re using a Linux or MAC operating system on your PC, then you need to open the Terminal and there enter: ‘root-linux.sh’ for Linux system and ‘root-mac.sh’ for Mac OS systems.
  13. Now, wait for apply the root action, don’t press and other button until the root process is complete.
