How to Root Sony Xperia Z

If you have already pre-ordered the Sony Xperia Z, you should know u how to root Sony Xperia Z device. This guide is only for the Xperia Z smartphones with an Unlocked Bootloader Only.

 

Before applying the rooting tutorial you need to follow some pre-requisites:  Apply this tutorial and all instructions from this tutorial only for the Sony Xperia Z smartphone.

Don’t apply it for any other Android smartphone or device, you risk bricking them.

  • Your Sony Xperia Z smartphone should be an unlocked bootloader.
  •  If your device doesn’t have an unlocked bootloader, you won’t be able to apply the root process on your device.
  •  You need to know when you unlock your device’s bootloader, you’ll lose all your data.
  • From the Unlock Bootloader tutorial, you’ll need to use the ‘fastboot files’. So keep in your mind where you copied the folder, you’ll have to use it in the rooting procedure.
  • Install the Sony USB drivers for your Sony Xperia Z smartphone.
  • Your Sony Xperia Z has to be a 10.1.A.1.350. version of firmware.
  • From the smartphone’s Developer Option menu, enable USB debugging option.
  • Apply this tutorial only if you’re an advanced Android user.  This guide and all the instructions are only for instructional and educational purposes.  .

Root Sony Xperia Z using DoomLord tools – Guide

  1. Download the CF-Auto-Root tool from HERE and save it in the ‘fastboot’ folder.
  2. Power off your Sony Xperia Z.
  3. Now reboot your device into Bootloader/ Fastboot mode.
  4. Using the USB cable, connect your smartphone to your computer.
  5. Navigate on the Fastboot folder and there open an CMD (command prompt window).
  6. Now, in the CMD window you have to enter the following command lines to push the root files on to your Sony smartphone.
  7. Enter the next command line for installing  the DoomLord-modded CF Auto Root Tool: > fastboot flash boot kernel.img.
  8. Enter this line in order to reboot the Sony smartphone: fastboot reboot.
  9. Now the Sony XPeria Z will boot and display a notification which warning that the smartphone will restart in 10 seconds.
  10. When the Sony XPeria Z device restarts one, disconnect the smartphone from the computer.
  11. Hard power off your smartphone, this will make your smartphone to vibrate 3 times. After that boot your smartphone into Fastboot mode.
  12. Now, connect your smartphone to the computer with the help of the USB cord.
  13. Enter the next command line for installing the stock kernel image: > fastboot flash boot stock-kernel.img
  14. After that enter fastboot reboot and then XPeria Z smartphone will restart into normal mode.
  15. Now navigate to Google Play Store and here search the BusyBox Installer app and install it.
