Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean 6.2.B.0.200 to Sony Xperia S using Flashtool

This week, Sony has officially rolled out the new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean 6.2.B.0.200 for Sony Xperia S LT26i devices. The owners from different regions have received this update automatically by OTA. Some of the Xperia S LT26i  has  not received this OTA notification. Our tutorial will teach you how to manually update your Sony Xperia LT26i with the latest Officially Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean 6.2.B.0. Firmware.

This latest update can be downloaded from the official SONY website and can be flashed using Flashtool software developed by Androxyde.

Pre-requisites:

 Warning: If the procedure isn’t applied in a correct way, you can r damage the device. Do not apply this step by step tutorial if you are not familiar using the Flashtool app, you need to be an advanced android user. Do this installation at your own risk.

  • Backup all data files, your SMS, call logs, contacts, internet settings, images and movies files, and any other document or files storage in your device’s internal memory. The procedure won’t erase the data, perform a full backup such as prevention.
  • In the tutorial, you’ll download from our source Xperia blog Firmware Database firmware file.

Note: This guide does not require you to have a rooted Xperia S device or to have a unlock bootloader.

  • This manual installation won’t void your device’s warranty.
  • Enable USB debugging option on your Xperia S device following the next path: Settings > Developer options.
  • Enable ‘Unknown sources’ on your Xperia S device from Settings > Security path.
  •  Install suitable drivers for your Xperia S smartphone on your PC, make sure that your PC communicates with the Xperia S device. Now, connect your device to the PC using the USB cord and make sure that connection is established before starting the process to download the USB and ADB suitable drivers.
  • In case you cannot install the drivers or you have any issues you can find the proper drivers on the following path location: ‘C:\Flashtool\drivers’, this location will be there after you have installed the FlashTool app.

How to install the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on the Xperia S using FlashTool.

  1.  First, download and install Flashtool on your computer from Windows from here, for Linux, For Mac.
  2. Download the firmware 6.2.B.0.200_Global for Xperia S (LT26i) file. In case Google Drive block the download, use the alternative source for your country from FTP connection using the Xperia S Firmware Database.
  3. Now, copy the downloaded firmware file on your PC in the following location: C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder.
  4. Next, launch the Flashtool software on your computer, to do that click on the lightning bolt symbol and select Flashmode, after you have selected the Flashmode click OK.
  5. Select firmware that you have downloaded and copied in the Flashmode left column. In case you don’t wish to do a clean flashing, you have to ensure that the ‘Data’ option isn’t checked.
  6. Press the Flash button on the Flashmode app.
  7. Now, connect the Sony Xperia S device to PC using its USB cable.
  8. After you press the Flash button, the Flashtool software begin to ‘Preparing files for flashing’ process.
  9. Next, a new prompt will appear which required to connect the Sony Xperia S device to the Computer.
  10. After you have been connected the device to PC, turn the Xperia S device off. Now, press and keep holding the volume down button while connecting the USB cord into the Sony Xperia S phone.
  11.  Now, the installation of new firmware should to start.
  12. Wait until the FlashTool application notifies you with the “Flashing finished” message.
  13. Disconnect the Xperia S device from the PC.
  14. Restart the phone. This restart may take more time to be done, just wait and don’t panic.

Congratulations, now the Sony Xperia S device should be updated with the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware named 6.2.B.0.200 firmware update.
