Install stock JB 4.1.2 UVDMD5 Firmware on T-Mobile Galaxy S3

A new version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS is available for T-Mobile owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3. This new update named  as UVDMD5 and has been released by OTA.

 

The UVDMD5 new firmware update can be received only if the Samsung Galaxy S3 device is running on a stock Android firmware. This means all rooted devices won’t be able to receive this latest update by OTA, they have to use a manually method to improve their device with this OS.

You can use this tutorial for a rooted device, or if you want to install a stock Android firmware.

This firmware presented here is an official OS released by Samsung and applying the same. You won’t void the warranty for you device after installing the update.  , Also, this guide will work with rooted and looked devices, but after you will apply it the root rights will be revoked.

For installing the firmware file, we will use ODIN app which is a flashing tool developed by Samsung and for installing this firmware.

For this reason, you need to complete the following pre requisites guide from below:

  • A Windows PC is used for completing the tutorial, you will install and run the ODIN app, and the PC also will be used for downloading and save the firmware file.
  • Also, a proper internet connection is enabled on the PC is a must have prerequisite.
  • Uninstall or deactivate all security programs (antivirus and firewall) from both PC and Android device, these programs can interfere with the installation process and can interrupt the same.
  • Download and install the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 drivers on the PC for assuring the connectivity between the PC and the Android device.
  • In case, you don’t have the suitable drivers, you can get theme via Samsung KIES app.
  • Enable the USB debugging option on the S3 smartphone.
  • Verify and make sure that the S3 device’s battery has enough power left, more than 65% power left.
  • Now, take the backup of all of your important data which is stored on your S3 smartphone’s internal storage memory.

How to Update T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 to official JB 4.1.2 UVDMD5 Firmware

  1. Download from here the firmware file and save it on your PC.
  2. Extract the downloaded file on the desktop.
  3. Next, download and install Odin app on your PC.
  4. Now, launch Odin app.
  5. Power off the S3 device.
  6. Boot it into download mode by pressing on Volume Up, Power, and Home buttons together.
  7. Now, connect your Galaxy S3 device to the PC via USB cable.
  8. Look the Odin and make sure that the ID:COM section is yellow or blue and the “added” message need to be displayed. If not, reinstall the drivers on your PC once more, for that first close Odin and disconnect the USB cable – after that repeat the steps from above.
  9. If everything is ok and is working as explained, you can move to the next step
  10. From Odin app select “pda” button.
  11.  Search and pick the update file from desktop where you previously extracted it.
  12.  Now, don’t perform any other changes and make sure that the “re-partition” option isn’t selected.
  13.  Next, click on “start” from ODIN.
  14. The installation will begin immediately, and all you need to do now is to wait ODIN flash the file.
  15. On the end of the installation process, the ODIN displays the “pass” message.
  16. Now, you can disconnect the USB cable from PC and reboot your Galaxy S3 device.
