Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices have received a new firmware update named Android 4.3 Jelly Bean DOENA4. The new firmware is released by Google and is rolled out via OTA (Over-the-Air) starting with February this year.

  • On the Note 2 device, you need to enable the USB debugging option from “menu – settings – developer options”.
  • On the PC, deactivate or uninstall all the security software protections, such as antivirus, firewall, antimalware programs. They can interfere with the download and flashing operation.
  • Ensure that the device’s battery has enough battery level left, or else the device might get a forced power off in the middle of the installation process.

How to install the Official DOENA4 Android 4.3 JB Firmware on Galaxy Note 2 device

  1. Download the official DOENA4 Android 4.3 JB Firmware file from here.
  2. Download Odin application.
  3. Download Samsung Kies application from here.
  4. Save all files on your computer’s desktop folder.
  5. Unzip the ODIN application.
  6. Unzip the downloaded firmware file on the same folder, when you’ve extracted the ODIN application.
  7. Now, install suitable USB drivers for Galaxy Note 2 device by using Samsung KIES application for doing that.
  8. Note: if you have installed the USB drivers then you can skip this step.
  9. Open Odin application on your PC.
  10. Power off the Android device.
  11. Boot it into Download Mode.
  12. For download mode, you should press and hold the volume down, power and home button at the same time.
  13. Connect the Note 2 device by using the USB cord.
  14. Now, Odin will say “Added” message and the ID:COM section from ODIN interface will be colored yellow or blue.
  15. If not close ODIN and disconnect the device and reinstall the USB drivers once again on your PC, after that repeat the steps from above.
  16. Now, from ODIN click on “AP” button.
  17. Pick the DOENA4 file.
  18. Do not make other changes on ODIN program.
  19. Click on  the“Start” button on ODIN.
  20. Just wait until the firmware file is successfully installed.
  21. When the file is successfully installed the “pass” message is  displayed in the ODIN application and the ID:COM section will turn green color.
  22. Now, remove the USB cord.
  23. Reboot the device.

Troubleshooting

If the Note 2 device might get stuck or it is entering into boot loop you need to:

  1. Enter your Note 2 into recovery mode.
  2. From recovery mode select “wipe data factory reset” and then “wipe cache partition”.
  3. Now, go back and select “reboot system now”.

If the ODIN software get stuck when you try to install the firmware file you need to:

  1. Close the ODIN application.
  2. Disconnect the USB cord.
  3. Force to restart your phablet.
  4. Reinstall the drivers on your computer.
  5. Repeat the update step by step guide from step 1 once again.
