Install TWRP Recovery for the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE XT897

If you want more from your android device, you need to know the Custom Recovery Image such as TWRP Recovery tool and it should be installed in your Android device.   With the help of this custom recovery tool, you can enjoy all of the customization available for your Android smartphone.

Before installing this tool, you need to  install the main available recovery features.  Pre-requisites:

  • All instructions are compatible only for Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE  model number XT897. You can use this tutorial for a device is at your own risk.
  • The device must be rooted and have a locked bootloader. If you want to install via Fastboot, you need to follow the next instructions:
  • You need to have the Android SDK installed on your computer. (Software Development Kit).
  • Download and install Motorola Drivers for Windows on your PC.
  • Go to Setting > Developer Options and check the USB debugging option to enable USB Debugging on your Motorola device.
  • Download TWRP Recovery tool kit.
  •  Verify your Motorola’s battery charging level and make sure your there still has at least 80% power.
  • Make a full backup for all important data stored on your smartphone such as SMS, contacts, MMS, Video files, Images, Personal files, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords.

How to install TWRP Recovery tool for the Photon Q 4G LTE XT897.

 The first method is Installing TWRP Recovery tool via GooManager

  1. First, you need Install GooManager on your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.
  2. Now go and Open GooManager application on your smartphone.
  3. Access the Menu (select the button beside the Search button) and chose Install OpenRecoveryScript from the list.
  4. Confirm that you want to install the Recovery Install with Yes option.
  5. Select Grant root access to the app.
  6. Now, you need to wait until the installation is totally done.

The second method is Installing TWRP Recovery tool via Fastboot

  1. In your PC in the C:\drive save the TWRP Recovery image.
  2. Connect your smartphone to your PC with the help of original smartphone’s USB cable.
  3. Open a CMD window (command prompt) on your computer. (Press the keyword’s PC the windows button + R key to launch the Run dialog and type “CMD” in the dialog box).
  4. Now, from the “CMD” window change the working directory in the path where you saved the TWRP Recovery image. Put your smartphone in the Fastboot Mode by entering: adb reboot bootloader at the CMD.
  5. Now enter: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-asanti_c.img at the “CMD” prompt to install the TWRP Recovery Image.
  6. After the TWRP Recovery Image has been installed, you need to disconnect your smartphone and then reboot it.
  7. For booting into the TWRP Recovery Image menu you need to follow the steps below listed:
  8. Turn off your Motorola smartphone.
  9. Press and Hold the volume up + power buttons at the same time and release the power button.
  10. When you’ll see the display screen turns on, you can release the Volume Up button.
  11. Normally now, you should be in TWRP Recovery Menu.
