New NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Software Update Now Available

NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet

NVIDIA has started the rollout of a new OTA update for its Shield Tablet. The new software is version number 1.1 and adds several improvements and fixes to the tablet. The changelog indicates a more stable Wi-Fi and a superior performance of the camera.

The new update also includes a toggle function for NVIDIA PRISM. Prism technology streamlines power consumptions of the display from frame to frame analyzing the need for light and maintaining color fidelity. The result is a better image which consumes fewer battery resources. When the brightness level is low the PRISM blinks, so the feature to turn PRISM off is welcome for users.

Plus, the new update adds a higher stability for SHIELD Hub and Gamestream; ShadowPlay receives performance optimizations; the update also comes with improved translations, optimized audio and other small changes for an overall enhanced user experience.

The file is 84.10 MB in size and can be installed directly from the Shield Tablet using a Wi-Fi connection. If you own an NVIDIA Shield Tablet, all you need to do is to check the availability of the new update directly from the tablet under Settings -> About Shield -> System updates.

NVIDIA Shield Tablet was launched back in July and is intended mainly for gamers offering powerful hardware and software functions dedicated to video games.

Shield Tablet is based on NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset that includes an NVIDIA quad-core 4-Plus-1 ARM Cortex-A15 CPU at 2.2 GHz with a 192 core Kepler GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM; it has an 8-inch multi-touch Full HD display that offers a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels.
