When Your Phone Will Get Android Nougat 7.0

This is the question that every Android user is asking or is interested to know. Since there is no clarity about this. It’s time for the new version and everybody is whinning about it. The difficulty is Android is a fragmented market divided by a lot of device makers. We can answer, no worries please. But point to understand is when you get Android Nougat depends on many factors.  A lot can be learned from previous updates and announcements. Here is what we know about it.

Nexus

The good news is that Android Nougat is already available for Google’s Nexus devices 6P, 5X, 6, 9, and Pixel C tablet.  In case you are not able to wait, you can join the Android Developer Preview program.

Motorola

The Moto Z and Moto Z Force were the first Motorola phones to get Nougat and Motorola is rolling out globally; it should hit the unlocked models also very soon. This means your phone will work with Google’s Daydream View VR headset. Those having the Verizon-branded model, keep looking for Verizon software pages for the big red sign off on the update.

Motorola is still on the tap for other phones and for the latest update, you can check with Motorola’s website: Moto G (4th Gen), Moto G Plus (4th Gen), Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Nexus 6

Samsung

The wait is finally going to be over for Samsung users to an end. In case you can deal with usual bugs, there is an official beta program for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. In the next phase, it is finalizing the update and send it out to carriers for the update. This is the where the case of backlogs starts piling up. To explain this, the AT&T Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ got Marshmallow in June 2016,  after the eight months of the software release. International unlocked version got it in February.  Though Samsung has its own processes and the interference of carriers has become much less, so if you have a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ or Note 5, in all likelihood you’ll get Nougat probably after it goes to the current flagships.

T-Mobile

The magenta network has a dedicated software page that has detail schedule of phones that will get Android Nougat. Though there is no detail arrived when they will get it, but more phones will be announced in the future.

HTC 10, HTC One M9, LG V10, LG G5, G Pad X 8.0, Stylo 2 Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6. Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge.

HTC

Android Nougat will be there in the unlocked model of the HTC 10 and it has been proclaimed by the company through Twitter.

In case you have an unlocked edition in the US, the company has promised to support existing models like the One M9, so you should be happy about it.

LG

The Spring brand LG G5 is in the line to get Nougat. The delay is just due to other carriers, which are likely in the approval stage of evaluating the software. The LG V20 had arrived with Nougat aboard. There is also an option of the beta program if you can’t wait.
