A new official firmware update is now available for all the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710 devices.  This latest update has been built of the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform and the version of firmware has been named XXAME1. It can be downloaded from Samsung KIES app.

 

This new update makes your smartphone faster and better.  This official firmware is a modified custom ROM and for installing it isn’t required to have installed a custom recovery image like CWM or TWRP to flash the firmware ROM archive on your Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710 device.

During the manually updating process, we will use the ODIN software. All instructions and information listed here are provided only for instructional and educational purpose. Do not blame us or held liable if you apply these instructions and the step by step guide with your device and during the flashing process your device will be damaged or bricked.

  • We will need a Windows based PC, USB cord and Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 device.
  • Install the suitable Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 USB drivers in your PC.
  •  Backup your data and apps before installing a  new firmware on your device.
  •  You need to back up your apps, SMScall logs history, sync your contacts with your Gmail account.
  • Note down your internet device’s settings from the next path: Settings > Wireless & Networks (More…) > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  • Backup all your data like images, videos, files, documents in the cloud or save them in the local PC.
  • In case,  your device is running a custom recovery image (CWM or TWRP), take a full NANDROID backup for your actual ROM.
  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode from your device menu.
  • Charge the device’s battery more than 80% power level.
  • Use this tutorial if your device is a factory unlocked Android smartphone.

How to Install Android 4.1.2 XXAME1 on Samusng Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710

  1.  Download the latest Android 4.1.2 S7710XXAME1 for your device Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710 from here.
  2. Now extract the zip file in your PC.
  3. Download ODIN v.1.85 app and install the same in your PC.
  4.  Power off your Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710 device.
  5. Boot your device into Download Mode. To do that you have to press and keep holding the Volume Down+ Home + Power buttons at the same time till you see an Android robot logo with a triangle.
  6. Open the ODIN app on your PC.
  7. Connect your device to the PC while your device is in the Download Mode
  8. Now, look the ODIN interface and if your smartphone is connected with success the ID:COM boxes will be colored on the yellow or blue color.
  9. Browse and select the flash file on the ODIN app following the below instructions:
    • First, click on ‘PDA’ button and from there select file with the ‘CODE’ containing its name.
    • Second, click on ‘Phone’ and from there select file with the ‘MODEM’ contained in its name.
    •  Now, click on ‘CSC’ and from the same place where you’ve extracted in the step 2 the zip archive.
    • Select file with CSC’ in its name.
    • Next click on ‘PIT’ button, browse and select the .pit file.
  10. Important: In ODIN app make sure that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked.
  11. Check the Re-Partition option ONLY if you loaded a.PIT file in the above step.
  12. Now, when you’re ready click on Start button in the ODIN app. Don’t touch anything  and wait for completing  the ODIN the flashing process.
  13. When the updating process is done the smartphone will restart, and the ODIN app will notify you with the “PASS” message.
  14. Disconnect your device from the PC after you’ll see the Home screen with the new firmware installed.
  15. Now, you can verify the firmware version from Settings > About phone and there you’ll see something like this” XXAME1 firmware”.
