  • Even though the ODIN app is used for flashing the new firmware, you still have to do a complete backup of all your data. Because you might end up losing or corrupting your personal data, info and accounts, so make sure you have saved all your data which are important for you.
  • A Windows based PC will be used to install the ODIN app, an USB cord and the GS2 device.
  • Uninstall or disable all the security programs such as Antivirus, Firewall and all antimalware tools.
  • Make sure that the device has enough power left in its battery, so charge the device so that it is more has more than 70 % power left.
  • Enable the USB debugging Option from “Settings>Applications>Development>USB debugging”.

How to Update Galaxy S2 I9100P to Official Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 with new XXLSU Firmware

  1. First, Download the Official JB 4.1.2 (I9100PXXLSU) update file from here.
  2. Save the downloaded file on PC on its desktop folder
  3. Dearchivate (Unzip) the download I9100PXXLSU file.
  4. Download and install the suitable drivers for the S2 I9100P device, you can make this by downloading and installing the Samsung KIES tool.
  5. Now, Download ODIN app., save it in your PC and install the same on the computer.
  6. Run ODIN.
  7. Power off the Android device.
  8. Boot the device into Download Mode. To do this press and keep holding the power, volume down and home buttons in the same time.
  9. Connect the SGS2 device to the PC via USB cable.
  10. Next, verify if the “added” message was displayed into ODIN and the ID:COM section from it is colored yellow or blue.
  11. If not, you should repeat all the steps from the beginning but reinstall once again the USB drivers on PC.
  12.  Now, select PDA from ODIN.
  13. Browse and pick the downloaded and extracted firmware file from Desktop folder.
  14.  Now, click on “Start” from ODIN. The flashing process will begin immediately.
  15. Wait while the new Android Jelly Bean is completely installed on the Samsung Galaxy S2 device.
  16. When the flashing process is done an “pass” message will be displayed, and a ID:COM section will be turned in green color.
  17. Now, disconnect the device when the “pass” message will be displayed, and the ID: COM section is colored in green.
  18. Reboot the smartphone.

Troubleshooting:

If the ODIN gets stuck you have to do:

  • Close Odin
  • Disconnect the USB cord from PC
  • Force restart the SGS2 device.
  • Apply all the steps from the beginning.

If the SGS2 device get stuck or will enter into a boot loop you have to do:

  •  Reboot the device into recovery mode.
  • From the Recovery Mode main menu select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”.
  • Reboot the device.
