 How to Update the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 to Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XWLSS Firmware: (Manually method)

  1. Download the Official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XWLSS Firmware file from here.
  2. Download the Odin app from here. After the download is complete, install the ODIN app in your PC.
  3. Now, extract the new ROM file on your computer, we recommend you to extract the same in the compute’s desktop.
  4. Open the ODIN app on your PC
  5. Now, reboot your S2 device into Download Mode. To do that first turn your device off, power on your device and after that press in the same time the Volume down + Power + Menu buttons.
  6. When your device is completely entering in the Download Mode menu, connect the S2 smartphone to the PC using the USB cord.
  7. When the connection is done, on the ODIN app a “added” notification is displayed such as a message and the ID:COM section will be colored in yellow or blue color.
  8. In the other case, if the ODIN doesn’t displayed the elements presented before, reinstall the smartphone’s drivers on your computer. To do that you need to close the ODIN, disconnect the device and install the drivers once again.
  9. Now go to ODIN and click on “PDA”, and browse and load the extracted firmware file on the step 3.
  10.  Important: the Re-partition box must be unchecked and let all any other settings as are by default.
  11. Now, when you’re ready to begin the installation process, click on START button and just wait until the flashing process will be completed.
  12. When the firmware’s installation is totally done a “pass” message will be showed in the ODIN interface.
  13. Disconnect your smartphone and reboot your S2 device.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the S2 device will enter in a boot loop, then boot it into recovery mode. For booting an S2 into recovery mode, you need to press and keep holding the Volume UP + Home + Power buttons simultaneous. When the device is in the Recovery Mode menu, from there select “wipe data factory reset” option and then “wipe cache partition” option, after these options reboot your device.
  • If the ODIN app gets stuck during the installation process, you need to do these actions:
  1. Close the ODIN app.
  2. Disconnect the S2 device from the PC.
  3. Reinstall the S2 I9100 proper drivers.
  4. Force a restart for the S2 device.
  5. Reboot the device into Download Mode again.
  6. Open the ODIN app again.
  7. Connect the device to the PC using its USB cord once more.
  8. Then repeat all the updating instructions from the beginning.
