Android 4.4.1 KitKat available for Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi model

After the Nexus 4, Nexus 4 and the LTE Nexus 7 2013 edition received the Android 4.4.1 update, now Google started to pushed out the same update for its WiFi-Nexus 7 variant.

The latest Android 4.4.1 update is rolled out in stages, that’s means not all Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi devices will receive this update in the same time. In case you’re an owner for a Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi device and you didn’t receive a pop-up notification on your device notification’ panel, then you can check for it manually. This thing can be performed by navigating on the next path: Settings> About tablet>Software updates and from there hit the updates button.

The firmware version can be verified after you’ve download and install the same and its name should be changed from KRT16S to KOT49E.

In case the new OTA update cannot be updated automatically on your Nexus 7 2013 device, then you can manually install the same by downloading the KOT49E ZIP file from Google’s server  and then install it on your device by using the adb sideload or a custom recovery tool like TWRP.

The new Android 4.4.1 named KOT49E firmware comes such as an update, and it won’t delete anything on your Nexus 7 device, but even if we know that it is recommended to backup all your data as prevention.

Note: If you have a rooted Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi device and you’ll install this latest official firmware then the root rights will be revoked. Fortunately, there exist method to regain the root access; all you need to do is that to install the latest version of Super SU application.
