Android 4.4.4 OTA Update For Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR & Tablet Z Now Available

Owners of Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR should pay attention because we have learned that Sony started the deployment of the expected upgrade to Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system for the mentioned devices and has confirmed via social networks.

According to the changelog provided by Sony on its support page for these devices, this new update adds bug fixes and improvements in battery performance in some background application, as well as WiFi and email stability and performance enhancements, but also adds general improvements for MMS, Calendar, Contacts & MoreAll. This update is also expected to fix the bugs that some users of the Xperia Z found in its previous update to version 4.4.2 of the Android operating system.

The update will be available via OTA and through Sony PC Companion, so do not worry if you still can not update your device because the availability of the upgrade to Android 4.4.4 depends on your country and operator, and as always not all users are able to update their devices at once.

Anyway, when Android 4.4.4 OTA update will be available for your device, you should receive a system message in the notification panel and tapping on it you will be able to download and install the new update.

The update carries the build number 10.5.1.A.0.283 for Xperia Z, ZR and ZL and for the Tablet Z the build number is 10.5.A.0.230. For the time being, the update is available only for the Wi-Fi variants of the Xperia Tablet Z, the SGP311 and SGP312 models.

Recall that the Sony Xperia Z, the Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR smartphones and Sony Xperia Tablet Z were presented officially in early 2013, and all four came on the market with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, so we are facing terminals that Sony has continued to update to ensure that their owners can enjoy the latest version of Android at all times.
