Good news for all Nexus 5 owners, after almost a month of waiting the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update is now here.
Yesterday, Google announced via Twitter that the new update is now released for Nexus 5 devices and users are already reporting that they are started receiving the new update.
As you probably know that this update is rolled out in stages, which means that some users have to wait longer until the new Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus 5 device hits your device. The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus 5 device has build number LRX21O and it comes with a weighs around 400 MB. That’s why it is recommended to have a stable WiFi network in order to download the update file to don’t avoid your data mobile plan.
As you can imagine that, once your Nexus 5 device becomes eligible to get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update, you should be able to receive an automatically system update message in the device’s notification bar.
For downloading and installing the new update you need tap on the notification message area then choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download process is done, and then select ‘Install now’.
Your Nexus 5 device should get an automatically restart and install the new update. In case the new system notification failed to appear, you can perform a manual check under the next path: Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now. You should also know that you must have installed on your device an official stock firmware in order to prepare your Nexus 5 device to receive the new Lollipop update.
If your device haven’t received the new update yet, you can either manually force the update using the Android 5.0 Lollipop Update OTA ZIP files or you can install a factory image. Keep in mind that when you use a manually method to install a new official update, the step by step procedure will fully wipe your Nexus 5 device and it’s recommended if you’re device coming from a custom ROM firmware.
