Android Marshmallow Problems And How To Fix Them

Over a period of time, Android Marshmallow has become all favorite among users due to its captivating looks, fabulous functionality and many other reasons. But there is another side of the coin and that is about various bugs that come along with Android Marshmallow which has all new features and functionalities. Here is the list of all commonly found problems with Marshmallow and ways to rectify them.

  1. Wi-Fi Battery Drain

A large number of Marshmallow users have complained about this problem which clearly indicated that something is really wrong with Wi-Fi. In many cases, this can be just wrong analysis, and the device’s battery life is typically unaffected by Wi-Fi, but some other users are witnessing the same problem which affects the battery.

The best way to tackle this is right here. Go to Settings > Backup and reset > Network settings reset to wipe off all your connection data. This includes Bluetooth and cellular data, so you’ll have to re-enter everything required.

Another option is to disable Wi-Fi scanning. Open Settings > Location > Scanning. This function can be scanning in the background even if you have turned Wi-Fi itself off. Other people have had success simply by going to Settings > Location > Mode > Battery saving.

Some experts have suggested to do a factory reset, followed by flashing the factory image, and then another reset through recovery. After this, reconnect to the Wi-Fi.

  1. General Battery Drain

The best way to fix the general battery drain after an Android update is to update your apps and then refresh your app and system caches to wipe out obsolete data.

To perform this, go to Settings > Apps > select app > Storage > Clear cache; to clear all app caches simultaneously, go to Settings > Storage and USB > Cached data > OK.

To refresh the system cache, turn your device off and press Power and Volume Down until you get the Fastboot menu. Now use the volume buttons to highlight Recovery and press the Power button to choose it. If you see the robot on its back, hold Power and press Volume Up once to get the recovery menu. Use the volume buttons to select Wipe cache partition and press Power to confirm. Once you’ve cleared the system cache, you can restart the device and you may get out from the battery drain problem.

  1. Marshmallow installation problems

If you’re encountering frequent hanging problems during the installation of Marshmallow, waiting is the best option available. Many times the first boot consumes a lot of time post an update. However, if problem still persists, you can choose to wipe off the system cache using Recovery mode. Reboot and try installation again. In further cases, you may need to back up your data and do factory reset before updating again.

  1. Marshmallow Wi-Fi connectivity issues

If you’re facing intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity on Android Marshmallow, there are various things you can try. First, attempt switching Airplane Mode on and off. If that doesn’t work, turn off Wi-Fi, reboot your phone and start it again. Next, forget the connection and reconnect to it. Lastly, go to Settings > Backup and reset > Network settings reset.

  1. Marshmallow stability and performance issues

There is one thing to remember that not all updates work perfectly in their initial stage. This is the reason why Nexus guys get them first, so that they can discover bugs and flats and report them back to the HQ for further rectification.

If you discover that your version of Marshmallow is not stable and encounter problems like random reboots, app bangs, glitches and stutters, strange behavior and others. To tackle them, you can try various options. Simply turning your phone off for a minute before restarting it might fix the issue. Next thing to do is to try to determine the issue, to check whether it’s app-related or caused by the system itself.

To do this, boot your device into safe mode by holding down the Power button and then long-pressing Power off. Safe mode disables all apps you’ve installed so you can easily determine what’s the real problem behind this instability. If they are, then one of your installed apps is the problem and you should try systematically uninstalling them one at a time to find the culprit. In case of app related problems, you can try uninstalling them one at a time to find the real cause.

  1. Marshmallow charging problems

Though Marshmallow is based on latest charging standards, charging issues with Android 6.0 are extremely common ranging from delayed recharge to faster battery drainage. According to Google, the most satisfactory way to deal with the problem is to do a factory reset using the above given procedures.

  1. Marshmallow mobile data issues

If you notice any unusual behavior in your mobile data connection, you can toggle airplane mode on and off, and then trying same with mobile data in the quick settings. If problem still persists, switch off your phone for a minute and then reboot it.

If that still doesn’t fit well, try detaching SIM card and then reinserting it. If all else fails, contact your carrier to see if there are any known Android Marshmallow problems on your network.

  1. PC connection problems

This problem mainly arises due to the improper selection of an option on your phone’s software. By default, the device connects in the USB charging mode, which means you won’t be able to exchange files.

When you connect your device to your PC using a USB cable, a message will come out saying Connected for charging. Press on this and you will get four options. The one you want is Transferring media files (MTP). This will allow you copy files to and from your device via USB. Transferring images (PTP) should be your backup option, in case MTP is not maintained. PTP will make your PC behave like you’ve attached a digital camera, enabling automatic transfer of media files.

  1. Marshmallow ‘insufficient storage available’ message

In most of the cases, this problem emerges out due to the SD card. Though Marshmallow doesn’t allow SD cards to be formatted as internet storage, there are apps that cannot be stored on the SD card. Go to Settings > Apps. Now press on any app and then choose Storage > Change and select SDCARD. If the SD card option doesn’t come out, it’s just due to the reason that the app cannot be stored there and must choose your default internal storage.

If problem still persists, the only option available is to make space anyhow in your internet storage. You can try clearing apps cache. This will help you get some internal space. For more storage, you can uninstall unused apps and delete media. Make sure you back up your crucial data you need later.
