- This is only for the unlocked version of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact devices, the “aries” model. Please do not try the files from this post to update any other devices.
- CarbonROM 7.1.1 Nougat can be successfully flashed only on a rooted phone that has the latest TWRP custom Recovery installed.

- Before starting the flashing of CarbonROM Nougat Nightly, sync all other data files with your Google account.
- Charge the Xperia Z3 Compact battery and make sure that there is more than 50% charged before it powers off completely.
How to Update Sony Xperia Z3 Compact to Android 7.1.1 with CarbonROM Nougat Nightlies:
1. Download from here the CarbonROM 7.1.1 Nightly zip file.
2. Download from here the Gapps for Android 7.1 ROMs.
3. When the two downloads are complete move both files to the phone’s internal storage but don’t extract the zipped contents.
4. Power off the Xperia Z3 Compact device and boot it in Custom TWRP Recovery Mode.
5. Select the “backup” option to create the NANDROID Backup for the installed ROM, then select the system files you want to save and confirm process.
6. Factory Reset your smartphone by selecting “wipe data/ factory reset” and confirm.
7. On TWRP Recovery, open the INSTALL menu to start the CarbonROM 7.1.1 flashing process.
8. Find and load the CarbonROM 7.1.1 Nougat zip file and confirm the installation. Do not press any button until the process is done.
9. When the custom ROM is done installing, find and load the Gapps zip and confirm the flash of the Gapps zip file.
10. When all the files are done installing, reboot your Xperia Z3 Compact device in normal mode.
11. Use the built-in OTA Updater to continue updating the installed CarbonROM Nightlies in the future.
