Good news for all Motorola Moto X device’s owners, it has been received a new firmware update specifically designed to come with improvements for the camera and some other changes.
The latest firmware update has been rolled out now for the AT&T network subscribers who own the Motorola Moto X device. So, the new firmware update is available for download and install to your Moto X device with a better quality pictures that are captured from the device’s 10 megapixel camera sensor.
The new update us dubbed as 139.11.6.ghost_row. Retail.en.US and it comes with some new features and enhancements for the Camera app such as an improved capture in natural light that integrated the Auto white balance and the new color accuracy for a more accurate exposure in backlit scenes.
On the camera improvements, we can find the Camera – Improved Focus feature. This new property comes with a faster touch to focus time and reduced unnecessary refocusing in the low light spaces and conditions and also in scenes with continuous motion.
Also, with this latest update you’ll receive a Camera – Faster Switching feature that will help users to shorten the time it takes to make the transition between rear and front-facing cameras, and the transition between the viewfinder and the Gallery app.
Moreover, the new firmware comes with an Enhanced Touchless Control feature that will improve the accuracy and responsiveness capabilities when the user use Touchless Control option, and in additional it comes with an easier training of the “OK Google Now” trigger.
Furthermore, the new update dubbed as 139.11.6.ghost_row. Retail.en.US brings an Improved Motorola Migrate Experience including the transfer of the content from a previous Android smartphone to a new Motorola smartphone. Also, the new release gives 50GB Promotion on the Google Drive cloud storage. Note: the users have 30 days from phone activation or installation of the new update to redeem the 50 GB offer promotion space.
We cannot forget to mention the new Calling – Improved Voice Quality option. With this new improvement, the firmware fixed a problem that could sometimes result in choppy audio being heard by the user you’re talking with on your Motorola Moto X device. In additional, the developer team adds a new improved Motorola Assist – Driving Detection where they fixed a problem regarding with the phone reading out text messages and reporting of the calls when not in Drive mode.
Last but not least, the new iteration comes with some other improvements such as Moto Care – Lost Device Finder option where was fixed the issue that can prevent a lost smartphone for reporting its coordinates to the Moto Care Lost Device Finder service.
How to download and install the latest 139.12.57.ghost_row.Retail.en.US update to the Moto X devices.
Prerequisites:
- Ensure that your Moto X device’s battery has more than 60 % power left.
- Ensure that your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- If you have received an automatically notification message with the latest update then:
- Select ”Download” option.
- Wait to download the new software.
- Select the “Install now” option.
- Once the new firmware is installed the Moto X device will re-start automatically.
- The smartphone is now updated with the latest 139.12.57.ghost_row.Retail.en.US. Firmware.
- If you have not received the automatically notification message with the latest update, then you can follow the step by step below guide to manually download and install the firmware on your Moto X device:
- From the Home apps menu of your phone, select the Settings icon.
- Next, scroll down and select “About phone”.
- Now, select “System updates”.
- Select ”Download” option.
- Wait for downloading the new firmware file.
- Once the firmware file is totally downloaded select “Install”.
- After the new firmware is completely installed, your Moto X device will re-start automatically.
- Your Moto x phone is now updated to 139.12.57.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.

If you cannot install the latest update because you didn’t receive the latest firmware update, then you can use the Motorola Device Manager (MDM) software. The installation software is available for Windows and Mac PC’s, and all you should to do is that:
- Download the Motorola Device Manager (MDM) from here.
- Connect the Moto X device to your PC
- Run the MDM software and follow the screen instructions.
- The Motorola Device Manager application would connect to the internet and will indicate if a new update is available or not for your Moto X device.
- If the application doesn’t recognize the smartphone, go to the Moto X device and navigate to the: Settings > Developer Options and Turn Off USB Debugging option, then disconnect and reconnect the device and select the option of MTP [Media Device] following which the MDM option.
