A new firmware build 17.1.1.A.0.438 that was certified by PTCRB is expected to hit Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet devices. The new build number 17.1.1.A.0.438 would update devices from the current build version 17.1.1.A.0.402.
According to Xperiablog, the Sony Xperia Z2 devices have already started to receive a new 17.1.1.A.0.438 update based on Android 4.4.2 that seems to be a minor bug fixes update and users of the mentioned devices are reporting better tap to wake a response.
Since there haven’t been seen an extended launch of this new build, therefore, you may be remaining a little longer on the current firmware before it rolls out to your Xperia Z2 device.
Sony has not updated the official software support webpage for Xperia Z2, so the official changelog is unknown, so there is no information about the enhancements the update adds with it, but you should expect besides the bug fixes, also performance improvements.
However, once your Xperia X2 will be eligible to receive a new update you will be automatically prompted by your device with a message in the notification bar, all you need to do is tap on the message and proceed by following the on-screen guidance.
You can also check for available updates by navigating to Settings-> About phone-> Software updates-> System updates.
You will find your device’s current software version under Settings -> About phone -> Build number/version.
Remember that when you will download and install a new update is advised to use a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to avoid data traffic and additional charges.
