One of the Google’s application that did not receive an update for a long time is Google News and Weather that, usually, comes on Android-based smartphones sustained by Google like Google Play Edition and Nexus devices.
However, now Google has rolled out an unexpected update to the Google News and Weather app that comes with a complete design overhaul that implements Google’s Material Design elements.
Once you update the app to version 2.0, you will find a minimal app that looks like Google’s desktop news icon.
The updated app implements the card-based interface and the ability to swipe between weather and different news topics.
If you want to see more information, you can expand items like the weather box, swipe between pages for new topics, and by signing in your Google account, you can link everything, as is with other Google’s native apps.
Google News and Weather v2.0 is available for download in Google Play Store, but there are users that cannot yet see it, if this is your case, you can download the apk from here.
The application requires Android 4.0 or up.
