How to Install Android 7.0 Nougat on the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge using ODIN

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge users from the United States are now receiving the official OTA Android 7.0 Nougat update for their devices. This will not be available to users of other location. However, you can receive this update by the method described in this post. This can be used by users currently running a custom ROM on their devices since ODIN 3.12.3 tool is capable of flashing an official stock Android firmware over devices with custom ROMs.

How to install the Android 7.0 Nougat Update for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

1. On your computer, download from here the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware file archive, extract the archived content and save the files on your computer. You will obtain a G935TUVU4BQB1 tar.md5 firmware file, don’t unzip this file.

2. Download from here the Odin 3.12.3 zip, extract the contents and save them on your computer.

3. Power off the Galaxy S7 Edge T-Mobile smartphone and boot it into Download Mode.

4. Open ODIN exe on your computer.

5. Connect the smartphone to the computer using a USB cable and wait for ODIN to detect the device. If the smartphone is not added, reinstall the Samsung USB drivers.

6. From the ODIN main screen, click AP.

7. Find the G935TUVU4BQB1 tar.md5 and load the firmware updating file in ODIN. Be careful to not change other different Odin settings.

8. Press START to begin the updating process and don’t press something else until the update is done.

9. When the installation is complete, ODIN will show the PASS message and your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge device will restart. Wait until the first boot is complete.

10. Unplug the smartphone from the computer, and use your usual login data to unlock the Samsung device.

What if:

The Factory Reset process should be applied also by the users that have installed the update over a custom ROM because otherwise, their devices won’t boot in normal mode. It cleans the device’s system partition, and it will force it to boot in normal mode with the new firmware.
