How to Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy Tab A6 LTE T285

If you decided to tweak your Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE core system, you should replace the stock recovery image with a custom recovery one. If you use the Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE and want to tweak its performance, we will show you how to safely and easily install the TWRP recovery.

The TWRP custom recovery image is one of the most popular custom recovery software available for the Android system and it will replace the stock recovery that runs on your Galaxy Tab A6. Your tablet comes by default pre-loaded with a stock recovery image, so if you want to perform an important modification in its core Android system; you should be careful and know what you are doing and because if something goes wrong you can end up bricking your device.

Pre-requisites:

  • This guide and the TWRP recovery file found below are compatible only with the Galaxy Tab A6 LTE T285 model number.
  • Save all your personal files because during the TWRP recovery installation your data might get corrupted or a wipe might be implied. You can make a backup by downloading dedicated backup and restore tools, sync your data with the Google Play account or use the Samsung built-in cloud storage platforms.
  • To install TWRP recovery using Odin is possible only if a Windows based PC can be used.
  • Install the Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE drivers by using the Samsung KIES utility.
  • On your Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE tablet, you must become a developer and also check the UBS Debugging option. To become a developer, tap 7 times repeatedly on the Built Number from settings ->about device and once the Developer Options is seen, go to the Developer options menu and check the USB Debugging option.
  • Make sure your tablet is fully charged.

Install TWRP Recovery on Your Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE T285 Using Odin

1. Download Odin from here on your computer and unzip the file. Install the Odin program by following the on-screen prompts.

2. Download and install the Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 USB drivers.

3. Download from here the TWRP recovery package on your computer and save it on the desktop.

4. Power off your Samsung tablet and then reboot it into download mode by pressing and holding the Power, Volume Down and Home buttons at the same time.

5. Run Odin on your computer.

6. Connect the tablet to the computer using the USB cable. On Odin, you should see displayed the “added” message and the ID:COM field turned in blue or yellow color; if not, try reinstalling the USB drivers and repeat.

7. From Odin, select the AP option and load the TWRP recovery file. Make sure that you don’t check the Auto Reboot and Re-Partition options.

8. Once TWRP recovery file loaded, click on Start and wait while the installation process is completed.

9. When done, the “pass” message will be displayed on Odin and the ID: COM field will be turned into green color.

10. Now reboot your tablet.

You should have successfully installed the TWRP recovery on your Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 LTE tablet. If Odin is getting stuck while you are applying above steps, close the program; reinstall the USB drivers and force restart your tablet; then repeat all the steps from above.

If a boot loop is issued, go to recovery mode and select ‘wipe data factory reset’, ‘wipe cache partition’ and ‘wipe Dalvik cache’.
