Prerequisites:

  • To verify your device’s model number, navigate to the Settings>About Phone.
  • Take the data backup and make sure that the device is at least 85 percent charged.
  • Download the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 USB drivers and install it on your PC.
  • Ensure that the USB Debugging Mode is enabled on the device, if not you can enable it by navigating to Settings>Developer Options or Settings> Application> Development.

How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.1.2 XXDMA5 Official Jelly Bean Firmware.

  • Download CF-Auto-Root package for N7100XXDMA5 Firmware  and extract it to get a .tar.md5 file in the extracted folder.
  • Download the Odin v3.07, extract it to get the ODIN3 v3.07.exe along with a few other files.
  • Power off the device and wait for its vibration to complete the device shutdown.
  • Boot the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device into Download Mode (press and keep holding the Volume Down and Home buttons simultaneously, while tapping in the same tie the Power button.
  • A Warning message will be displayed, now hit the Volume Up button and you’ll enter into Download Mode.
  • Open the ODIN3 v3.07.exe as an Administrator
  • Now connect the device to PC with the USB cord and a message “Added!!” will be displayed in Odin’s message area at the bottom left of its interface.
  • If the message fails to be displayed,  try another USB port, if it  fails,  you will need to reinstall the USB drivers on the device.
  • When the “Added!!” Message is displayed in ODIN, proceed to the next step.
  • Select the following files in ODIN by following the next command button.
  • From ODIN application, click the PDA button, select CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5.
  • In ODIN, ensure that the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options are enabled.
  • Verify once again all steps and then hit the Start button to start the installation process.
  • Once the root pack is installed completely, the device will reboot and a PASS message will be displayed on the left-most box at the very top of ODIN application.
  • Now, disconnect the USB cable from PC.
