The rumors about a version with plastic housing of One M8 flagships from HTC are over. The company announced that HTC One E8 will be available this month for certain markets.
HTC One E8 specifications are similar with the premium model the HTC One M8, except for dual SIM and the main camera. Otherwise, the differences are in design, materials used in the finishing and weight.
HTC One E8 offers a polycarbonate shell that brings the model to a weight of only 145 grams, compared to 160 grams of One M8 version with metal body.
At the same time, the new One E8 is a little thicker than M8, with a profile of 9.9 mm vs. 9.4 mm as has M8.
HTC One E8 offers a 5-inch display with a resolution identical with M8 model, it has a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD card slot that supports up to 126GB.
The device operates Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0 UI out-of-the-box and comes with connectivity features like HSPA+, LTE, 3.5mm stereo audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, NFC, DNLA, Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz), micro USB and HTC Connect.
The BoomSound system with dual-front facing stereo speakers with dedicated amps from the HTC One M8 is also find present on One E8. Moreover, the One E8 comes with accelerometer, ambient light, proximity, barometer sensors and gyro.
What is noteworthy is that the HTC One E8 offers 13MP main camera with BSI sensor, LED flash and f/2.2, and has no DUO Camera photo mode as the M8 flagship, but optical gear that models like HTC Desire 816 or HTC mini 2 are equipped and a 5MP front facing wide-angle camera with a screen side countdown timer.
The HTC One E8 is dynamized by a 2,600 mAh non-removable Li-polymer battery that gives up to 26 hours of talk time on 3G and almost 504 hours of standby time on 3G.
The HTC One E8 it will come in four colors: Polar White, Maldives Blue, Electric Crimson, and Misty Gray.
HTC has announced that China will be the launch market for this device, but to expect worldwide availability at a later date. It will cost around $447 USD /€329 / £267 based upon the price in China but it will probably depend on the market and it may vary on other markets.
