Instagram To Support 1 Minute Long Video

If you think Instagram is just about good menu picture, be ready to change your perception. The popular social media platform has announced that now users can upload video of the length of 1 minute compared to earlier 15 seconds.
Both iOS Android smartphone users now can upload videos of greater length. However, the feature will be accessible for all users gradually.

Instagram has made this change because of the changing preferences of users towards videos. It has found that they are engaging with more video content. The percentage of video engagement has increased by 40 percent during the last six months.

The move is also being seen to stop the growing clout of YouTube and capture a portion of growing vlogging market. In an official post, Instagram said, “longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s (@bretmanrock) latest makeup tutorial.”

The development indicates the growing importance of videos for Instagram. More and more users are choosing to share clips and—even advertisers are preferring video ads.

For iOS app users will be able to craft longer videos from multiple smaller videos. Though, the feature was present in earlier Instagram, but it was later removed.

It was from 2014 when Instagram started churning solid revenue from video ads. It will also allow Instagram video ads to blend better with the user generated videos. Apart from that, it will allow them to harness the power of mobile app videos.

It’s even possible in future that Instagram can potentially release a video editing tools apart from the main Instagram app. That would help Instagram to keep its user interface clean.

What is more important is to understand that Facebook need more these features than Instagram. It’s video feature is embarrassingly old.
