How To Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat (I317MVLUDNF1) to Canadian Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317M

As you are aware that all the major Canadian Carriers have rolled out the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update (VLUDNF) update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317M devices. This guide will teach you how to install the official OTA Update device by using a manual step by step process.

How to flash the I317MVLUDNF1 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317M device.

Download the new I317MVLUDNF1 KitKat firmware zip file from below, you need to download the corresponding file to your Note 2 I317M carrier:

  1. After the download is done, extract the the zip file , save it on your PC. The file is named I317MVLUDNF1 and will have tar.md5 extension.
  2. Do not extract any other file than that.
  3. Now, download the Odin3 v3.09 zip file, extract it, save it in your PC.
  4. Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317M device and boot the device into Download Mode.
  5. Open the Odin3 v3.09 program on your PC.
  6. Use the USB cable and connect the device to the computer.
  7. Now, once the ODIN application recognizes the Note 2 device, after that you need to continue with the next step.
  8. If the device is not recognized by the ODIN application, you need to reinstall the Samsung USB drivers Now, you can start to flash the new Android 4.4.2 (I317M) KitKat update on your PC.
  9. Open the ODIN application and click on AP button.
  10. Now, load the I317MVLUDNF1 tar.md5 file in ODIN.
  11. Now, make sure that the “Re-Partition” option in ODIN is disabled.
  12. Do not change other default ODIN settings.
  13. Now, press the START button when you want to start the installation process of your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device.
  14. The new update will take around 10 minutes to complete, and do not press any other buttons until all files are successfully flashed.
  15. When the installation process is over, see your Note 2 device rebooting into Normal Mode.
  16.  Wait until the first reboot process is done,  it will take a while to load all files until the device home screen appears.

Troubleshooting:

NOTE 1:

In case the ODIN application fails to complete the update by freezing or shows on your device display some errors, repeat the entire steps.

 NOTE 2:

In case Odin application shows that the update process is over,  but the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device doesn’t boot into normal mode, or the device enters into boot loop, you will need to do a ‘factory reset’ from Recovery Mode.

If your device had a custom ROM, you install the Android 4.4.2 official KitKat over,  you need to perform a “Factory reset” on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device.
