How to Install Android 4.4 KitKat with CM 11 Firmware on Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx

There is a good news for Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx device users across the world. Now these can be updated with the latest Android 4.4 based CM11 custom ROM Firmware.

Don’t consider it as an official release of CM11 platform, as you probably know that the CM team had just released the stable version of CM 10.2.  Even though the custom ROM is not the official release of CyanogenMod 11, the Firmware is smoothly running on smartphones, thanks to xda-developers who had modified and developed the official Android 4.4 KitKat Operating System especially for Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx devices.

  1. Download the CM 11 based on Android 4.4 update file for the XT910 –GSM model from here, while for the XT 912 – CDMA version from here and save it on your PC.
  2. Download the Google Apps package from here and save it on your computer.
  3. Don’t extract (unzip) the files.
  4. Now, connect the smartphone with computer by using a USB cord.
  5. Copy and paste the downloaded files on your device’ SD card.
  6. Next, disconnect the USB cord.
  7. Power off the device
  8. Boot the device into recovery mode – you can use this tutorial if you don’t know exactly how to enter into Recovery Mode.
  9. From the main menu of the Recovery Mode select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and then “wipe dalvick cache”.
  10. Now, return to main menu of the Recovery Mode and from there select “install zip from SD card” followed by “choose zip from SD card”.
  11. Search and load the CM11 firmware file to install it on the Motorola Droid Razz or Droid Razr Maxx device.
  12. Now, do the same thing and install the Google Application pack on the smartphone.
  13. When the both files are installed, select “+++go back+++” and “reboot system now”.
