How to Install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Official Update for Unlocked Samsung Galaxy A8 A800F with ODIN

The Android 6.0.1 Update with the latest Security Patches has been pushed by Samsung for all the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy A8 A800F models.

If you own a Galaxy A8 A800F model and you do not want to wait until the new firmware update comes up in your region, you can learn in this article how to successfully flash the new Android 6.0.1 update manually with the ODIN app help in case you want to use these features immediately.

To manually update, process can be applied by users running a custom ROM on their Samsung Galaxy A800F devices, by users with 100% stock Android firmware or a rooted firmware.

Before starting the flashing process, you have to check if some pre-requites are met:

How to install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Official Update for Galaxy A8 A800F with ODIN App:

  1. Download from herethe Android 6.0.1 A800FXXU1BPJ3 archive file.
  2. Once the archive file downloaded, you can unzip the contents and save them on your computer. You will obtain the A800FXXU1BPJ3 tar.md5 firmware update file but do not extract yet the tar.md5 file, as this is the file you need to load and flash in Odin application.
  3. Download from here10.7.zip on your computer and unzip the files.
  4. Power off your Samsung device and boot it in Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at once.
  5. Open Odin exe on your computer and connect your Samsung Galaxy A8 device to your computer through a USB cable. Normally the ODIN app should detects the device and you can move to the next step. If your device isn’t recognized by ODIN, try reinstalling the Samsung USB Drivers once more.
  6. From Odin, click the AP button.
  7. Find and load the A800FXXU1BPJ3 tar.md5 file in ODIN, confirm the installation of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update by pressing the START button and wait until the update is completed.
  8. Once the Android 6.0.1 installed by ODIN, you should see the PASS alert, and the Samsung device will reboot in normal mode and is goes to take a while before it loads all the new update files.
  9. Unplug the device from the computer when “optimizing apps” screen loads on the device’s screen and use the default login info to be able to have control over your Samsung device.

If ODIN displays the FAIL alert instead of PASS, you will need to repeat the entire step by step tutorial more than once.

If ODIN shows the PASS alert, but your device enters in a boot loop or it gets stuck at the boot animation screen, you need to Factory Reset it to boot in normal mode.
