How to Install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920T With Odin 3.10.7

T-Mobile is now pushing the official OTA Android 6.0.1 update on their Samsung Galaxy Note 5 devices. But as it happens, the new update is being rolled out in stages and not all users are getting it at the same time. You can check if a new update is available for your Galaxy Note 5 device by going to Settings-> About Phone and see if a System Update is ready to be installed. To download it, you just need to confirm the update process and your device will take care of the firmware file installation automatically.

If you do not want to wait for the new OTA Android update to arrive in your region you can manually flash the Android 6.0.1 files using ODIN app. In order to learn how to do that, follow the steps from below.

Before starting to flash the update, check that the following guidelines are met:

Your device is a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920T model. Check the model by going to Settings> About Device and see if the model is SM – N920T.

How to Manually Flash Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 device:

  1. Download the Android 6.0.1 N920TUVS4DPH2 archived firmware file from here.
  2. Once downloaded, unzip the contents and save the files on your computer. After download, you will obtain the N920TUVS4DPH2 tar.md5 file, but don’t unzip the tar.md5 firmware file.
  3. Download the Odin 3.10.7 app from here, extract the contents and save them on your computer.
  4. Power Off your phone.
  5. Boot your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 in Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Keep pressing these buttons until the Download Mode is being displayed. To confirm Download Mode boot, press Volume Up button.
  6. Launch the Odin exe file on your computer.
  7. Connect the phone and the PC using a USB cable and wait for Odin app to detect your phone. If the phone is not detected, try reinstall the Samsung USB drivers one more time.
  8. Go to Odin main screen, open Options, find ‘Re-Partition’ and disable it. Do not edit default Odin settings.
  9. From Odin’s main screen click the AP button. Find the N920TUVS4DPH2 tar.md5 firmware update file and load the file in Odin.
  10. Press START button to begin the Android 6.0.1 update process. Wait until all the new files are done installing, don’t press any other buttons.
  11. Once the update is over, you will see the PASS alert in ODIN. The phone will reboot in normal mode.
  12. Finally, unplug the phone from your computer, and use your default login info in order to unlock your phone.

If ODIN shows the FAIL alert, or any other error that impedes you from completing the Marshmallow update, repeat the installation process once more, making sure that you won’t skip any steps.

If ODIN is showing the PASS alert, but your phone enters in a boot loop, or it gets stuck in the boot animation screen, you need to ‘factory reset’ it.
