How to Install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update for Samsung Galaxy A3 A300FU via ODIN

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow official OTA Update has started rolling out for Samsung Galaxy A3 1.5GB RAM models. The OTA update is being released in stages by Samsung and not all Galaxy A3 A300FU users are getting the new firmware updates for their handsets. However, if you are an advanced user and you do not want to wait for the new update you can flash it manually with the help of the ODIN app.

Before flashing the new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware read the following guidelines:

  • Make sure that your device is a 2015 Samsung Galaxy A3 A300FU model with 1.5GB RAM. To check it’s the model go to Settings -> About Device and see if the SM – A300FU model is listed as model number. If the model of your Samsung smartphone is not the one, don’t adopt this process.
  • Download from here the Samsung USB Drivers and install them on your computer, to make sure that your phone is detected when you connect the two.
  • After you downloaded and installed the USB Drivers, you have to enable the USB Debugging option from the Developer Options menu of your device. If you search in Settings and cannot find Developer Options you need to tap seven times on the Build Number section.
  • Once you’ve find Developer Options, find USB Debugging and enable it.
  • If your Samsung Galaxy A3 A300FU device is running over rooted firmware, you can install the Android 6.0.1 update with ODIN, but the root access won’t survive the update process.
  • Any custom Recovery that you might have installed is going to be replaced with a stock Recovery image.
  • The Android 6.0.1 Update can be flashed manually using ODIN over custom ROMs, too, but you have to Factory Reset your device after the update is completed.

By Factory Resetting process, the system partition of your phone is going to wipe clean, but no data will be lost, from it’s internal storage. The custom ROM is going to be lost in the process, but the data stored on the Internal Storage of your device is going to be left unchanged.

  • If your 2015 Samsung Galaxy A3 runs 100% stock Android firmware, you can continue straight to the tutorial part and start the flashing process.

Disclaimer: Please use this installation process only if you are an advanced user, because we cannot be blamed in case you end up bricking your device, or if you lose important data files in the process.
