The new CyanogenMod 12 Nightlies based on Android 5.0 is now available and this post is provided for teaching your how to flash it on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE device
The new CyanogenMod 12 custom ROM is based on the newest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and it comes with almost all features, functions and improvements as well. For more details about the new release you can find on the CyanogenMod official blog here or here.
Prerequisites:
- This guide is provided only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (International LTE variant). Do not use the same for any other similar devices.
- The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini device has to be rooted and to have the latest CWM or TWRP custom Recovery Image installed on it. Ensure that the flashed custom Recovery Image is updated to support the Android 5.x Lollipop Firmware (ROMs).
- Create a full Nandroid Backup for your present ROM, this will represent a full restore point in case the device doesn’t boot into normal mode with the new custom ROM.
- A factory reset action is required, the factory reset step will delete all the files that existing in the previous ROM but you need know that the Factory Reset wipes all data from the device’s system memory and won’t affect the internal nor external device’s storage space.
- If you have already flashed an official CM 11 Nightlies or CM 11 M-Snapshot official builds then you can skip the factory reset’ process.
- Another way to save data from installed applications is to use the Helium Tool.
- Save your smartphone numbers and Contacts details by synchronizing them with your Gmail account.
- Ensure that the Galaxy S4 Mini phone’s battery charge level has more than 60 %, it will prevent the smartphone to get a forced power off during the installation process.

How to flash CM 12 Nightly Lollipop ROM for Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (international version):
- Download the CM 12 Nightly Lollipop ROM zip file from here. ( download the latest CM 12 Nightly builds available)
- Now, download the Gapps from here
- Save both files on your PC.
- Connect the device to the PC by using the USB cable.
- Move both downloaded files to your device’s internal storage. Do not extract the zipped contents.
- Next, disconnect the Android based device from the PC after both files are completely copied.
- Power off the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE smartphone.
- Boot the device in Custom Recovery Mode.
- Create a full Nandroid backup for the actual flashed ROM.
- If you have the CWM Recovery select ‘backup and restore, if you use a TWRP you need to tap ‘backup’ area.
- Give a name for the new file and then confirm the process.
- Next, apply the Factory Reset process, for CWM users select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ and for TWRP users press ‘Wipe’.
- Now, start the CM12 Android 5.0 Nightly ROM process, for CWM select ‘install zip from sdcard’, and then ‘choose zip from sdcard’, and if you have the TWRP press ‘Install’ option.
- Browse your device’s internal storage for the copied Nightly zip file, load it and then confirm the installation process.
- Once the CM 12 Nightly custom ROM is successfully flashed you can install the Gapps zip file in the same way with the installation of the CM 12 zip file.
- Restart the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE device in normal mode after the files are successfully installed. Keep in mind that the first boot process of this new custom ROM will take a while before it will completely loaded.
