Getting a new custom ROM for the existing device is like getting extra benefits without paying anything. In this article, we are going to share the tutorials for flashing your Nexus S device with another CM10 plus AOKP based custom ROM. For this device, the custom ROM comes with the latest Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Android based platform. Understanding our tutorials is quite easy. Just follow the step-by-step guide which we have shared in this article.

The users who had tried already the Xylon ROM on the Galaxy S and in the Google Nexus 4 give a positive feedback and tell about this custom ROM that it is fast and offers multiple powerful and important features. The smartphone is perfectly compatible with this Android version. This custom ROM was developed by xda-developers and comes with a suitable ROM for the Nexus S devices.

As you probably know a custom ROM isn’t an official release ROM by Samsung, and we know in the future Samsung and Google won’t release an official update for Nexus S (beside Android 4.1 version), so if you want to install the latest version of the Android operating system, you need to install a custom ROM.

The Xylon firmware brings with it a powerful platform integrated like CM10 and AOKP. The new ROM makes your device strong and great performer with the Android 4.2.2 JB operating system.

Remain careful as the flashing process with a custom ROM is complex and is always a risky one. This means it can have some negative impact on your device like destroying your data or breaking your device. Try this only if you are an Android expert.

Pre-requisites/ Guidelines:

  • Your Google Nexus S device must be rooted. When you root your device you’ll remove the factory restrictions, and you’ll have the full control of the internal file system of your smartphone, so, in order to complete the flashing guide with the Xylon custom ROM, the root access must be guaranteed.
  • Use this tutorial and all information presented here only for Samsung Nexus S, and don’t try to flash this custom ROM in any other device otherwise you risk breaking them.
  • This tutorial and all the information stored here are only for educational and instructional purposes. Don’t hold us responsible or liable if anything wrong happens while flashing this ROM.
  • When you install a custom ROM, your device’ warranty will go void, as it is an unofficial update. So, keep this in your mind and be careful about what you do.  Also, you can restore your warranty, if you downgrade to the stock ROM.
  • You need to have a Custom Recovery image in your device, so, to flash a custom recovery image in your device, you need to have a rooted device. So, this step is must, and it is extremely important to be completed. You will use this custom recovery image during the flashing process.
  • You need to back-up all your data stored in your Google Nexus S device, back-up your contacts, your SMS, your call logs, internet connection, images files, videos files, and all your important data stored in the device’ internal memory.
  • Make a Nandroid back-up for your actual ROM; this back-up will be a restore point for your device. In case something goes wrong or if you don’t like the new custom ROM.
  • You need a computer, which runs a Windows OS, the Nexus S device and its original USB cable.
  • Deactivate all the security application from both, your PC and the Android device, like antivirus or firewall.
  • From the next path “Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging” enable the USB debugging option for your device; this thing will possibly create a connection between Android device and your PC.
  • Verify the power left in the device’ battery. Keep in mind that your battery must be at least 70% charged otherwise it may force your device to shut down in the middle of the flashing process.
