world’s slimmest full HD smartphone LCD

Smartphones and tablets are always getting thinner, and for this reason numerous phone makers are working continuously to find ingenious solution to increase the device specifications and capability with a thinner design including here of course a better battery life.

In thinner thickness trend of screen devices, LG device maker comes today, after the company has intensified its work to get the thinnest display, with 1080p LCD, which in this moment is the thinnest display in the world. This display is a 5.2-inch panel and it has only 2.2 mm thick with a bezel equal to 2.3 mm, although the real bezel for a device could be slightly higher due to the housing and screen mounts.

The technology that is behind of this display is called the LG Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS). This new technology allows dual Inserting flexible printed circuits between LCD panel and touch film. This great idea allows you getting 30% fewer lines on the panel.

In addition, this display is a 1,080X1,920 pixels that integrates Red, Green, Blue (RGB) sub-pixels with a  brightness of 535 nits at maximum. This value is the highest value for the brightness on a Full HD 1080p screen; it is the higher value can be produced of a similar display currently. The contrast, meanwhile, is 3.74:1 based on 10,000 lux.

This new display will enable a thin LCD, which will help the OEM engineers to do smartphones more slimmer or to use a larger battery, because inside of this part will be more space.

For the moment,  we have no information about this new display on which device will be available, but may be on G2 Optimus, what do you think? It was rumored that the LG Optimus G2 will have a 5.2 inch screen.
