Official Android 4.4.4 KitKat Now Rolling Out To Sprint’s Moto X

Motorola Moto X users from Sprint, who have expected the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update can now upgrade to the official firmware via Over-the-Air release.

The official Android 4.4.4 firmware has started rolling out to Moto X users, but like other Android releases, the access to the update depends on the region, so not all Sprint subscribers can download and install it in the same time.

However, once your Moto X is ready to receive the Android 4.4.4 OTA update you will receive a system message in the notifications panel, all you need to do is to select “Download,” and after the download completes tap “Install Now.”

There may be cases when the system fails to prompt you, but you can check under Settings >> About phone >> Software updates >> Check now and see if the Android 4.4.4 is available for your Moto X device.

The new firmware is build number KXA21.12-L1.28 and although Sprint did not specified on its software support page how large it is the update it’s recommended for you to use a stable WiFi network and to charge the device’s battery to avoid unwanted data charges or interruption during the installation process.

According to Sprint, the new firmware update includes bug fixes and numerous other improvements, such as stability improvements, improved camera image quality, the ability to pause video recording, updated phone dialer with a new graphical layout and colors, and enables Motorola Alert application download.
