Root Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Wi-Fi on OTA Android 4.4.2 Official KitKat Firmware

The new Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update is now available for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 (Wi-Fi model, dubbed as T310). Unfortunately, the new update is available in limited markets, but all users who want to install the new ROM on their devices can do this by using a manual method. Don’t worry we will show you an easy method to do that.

Android 4.4.2 is the latest update is for  Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 The  root access that you had on the previous firmware version will no longer be available with your Tab 3 device. You will require a new root access on your device compatible with Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM.

This is a complex and risky operation. So read the guide carefully. This is not an official root procedure, so you will lose warranty. With a rooted device you can perform different applications,  such as installation of the custom recovery images such as (TWRP or CWM recovery), you can  also flash a custom kernel, remove bloatware,  make customization and optimizations for the device performance, enhance the battery life and the speed of the device.

You will need ODIN application to complete this process which is an official program to serve this process.

Pre-requisites:

Now, ensure that the device’s battery levelis more that 70 %.

How to Root Samsun Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Wi-Fi on Android 4.4.2 Official KitKat Firmware

  1. Download the root pack from here, and save it on your PC.
  2. Download the ODIN application, and Samsung KIES software.
  3. Unzip the ODIN application, install it on your PC.
  4. Install the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 drivers on your PC using the Samsung KIES application.
  5. Now, unzip the root pack on your desktop, open the ODIN application on your PC.
  6. Enter the device to the download mode. To do that,  turn off the device by pressing the power button.
  7. Now, press and keep holding the power, volume down, and the home buttons together for few seconds.
  8. Now, connect the device with your PC by using the USB cord.
  9. On ODIN the “added” message will be displayed and the ID:COM section will show yellow or blue color.
  10. If this does not happen, you need to remove the USB cable and then reinstall the USB drivers on your PC. On the ODIN application click on the “PA” button, pick the root file from desktop.
  11. Now, click the “Start” button and do not make any other changes on the ODIN program.
  12. The root sequence will be done,  ID:COM section will be colored grean and it will show a pass message.  Remove the USB cord and reboot the device.

Note: If the ODIN application gets stuck, close the program, unplug the USB cord then force a restart and reinstall the drivers on your PC. Repeat the process.

If your device gets stuck in a boot loop,  reboot the Tab 3 8.0 device into recovery mode. Now select the “Wipe Data Factory Reset” and “wipe cache partition”. From the main menu of the recovery select “Reboot System Now”.
