How to root the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet

If you’re an owner for a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 android device and you want to root it, you can root you’re according to the method suggested by XDA developers member names Chainfire. It’s a one click method. This rooting method from Chainfire is well-tested. We use a tool called CF-Auto-Root.

 

After you installed the CF-Auto-Root and you obtain the root access your warranty will be void.

To obtain the root access on your android tablet using CF-Auto-Root, you need to follow the next below instructions. Before you are starting to root your Galaxy Note 10.1, you need to apply some prerequisites that are required for your device model.

  • All instructions in this tutorial can be applied only for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 models numbers GT-N8000, GT-N8010, GT-N8013 and GT-N8020.
  • This is only for instructional and educational purpose and there is no guarantee that it will work for your device under specific changes.
  • You should reread and well understand all the steps carefully.
  • You will use a Windows computer.
  • You need the USB drivers to be installed on the computer. If you don’t have the drivers installed on your PC, you can install Samsung Kies.
  • Enable USB debugging on your Galaxy Note device. For doing this go to the next path: Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
  • Deactivate/ Disable all the security programs like antivirus and firewall installed on devices. You also need to disable Samsung Kies and all the application.
  • Charge the device’s battery more than 80% power level.
  • Do a full backup for your important personal data stored on your smartphone.

 How to root the Galaxy Note 10.1

  1. First, download Odin 3 v 1.85 from here.
  2. Download appropriate rooting file for your Galaxy Note 10.1 model from below:
  3. Download GT-N8000,  or GT-N8010, or  GT-N8013, or GT-N8020  root file.
  4. From the zip files that you have downloaded and saved on your PC, extract the Odin3 v1.85.exe and the CF-Auto-Root .tar.md5 file.
  5. Now launch Odin.exe file on your computer.
  6. Turn your android tablet off.
  7. Now boot your android tablet to Download Mode. To enter in the Download Mode, you have to press and keep holding down the Volume Down and the Power buttons at the same time.  .
  8. Connect your android device to your computer using the original tablet’s USB cord.
  9. When connecting the device, you will receive an “Added!” notification on your Odin app window.
  10. On Odin app click on PDA button, select the .tar.md5 file that you extracted previously.

Important: Do not make any other supplementary changes or settings in Odin. Do not tick the “Re-partition” option.

  1. Now, click the Start button in Odin software.
  2. When you successfully installed CF-Auto-Root, a “Pass” notification will appear at the top-left in the Odin application. After that, your device will automatically reboot once the root rights has been successfully installed.
  3. Now, disconnect your Galaxy Note 10.1 from your computer after you’ll see the Samsung logo on your device’s display.
  4. After these operations your tablet should boot into Recovery Mode automatically.
  5. If it does not boot automatically, you can do it this manually pressing and holding the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time until the display turns on.
