How to Root the HTC Droid Incredible 2

Root the HTC Droid

If you have an HTC Droid Incredible 2, probably you want to root access to enjoy its maximum potential. The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is an Android based smartphone that comes with an 4.0 inches S-LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and a resolution 480 x 800 pixels, 1.1 GB internal memory ROM and 768 MB RAM.

It has 8 MP back camera with 3264×2448 pixels, autofocus, and dual-LED flash. The CPU Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon, Scorpion Technology is clocked at 1 GHz, and the GPU is Adreno 205 model.

The Droid Incredible 2 runs on the Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) with the possibility to be upgraded to Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

 

Pre-requisites:

  • First, you need know that when you root your device, the device warranty will be void.  This tutorial works only in the Windows based computers.
  • For rooting, your device, it needs to have an unlocked bootloader.  If your HTC Droid Incredible 2 isn’t an unlocker bootloader, you can do that from here.
  • Install the compatible drivers for HTC Droid Incredible 2 smartphone on your computer, you can download them from here.
  • Install a ClockworkMod Recovery on your HTC device to do that we will show below a step by step guide .

How to Install the ClockworkMod Recovery on the HTC Droid Incredible 2 smartphone:

  1. First, download the Fastboot archive from here and save it in your Desktop PC.
  2. Second,, download the ClockworkMod Recovery Image from here and save it in your Desktop PC.
  3. Now, extract files from the Fastboot zip archive to your Desktop PC. After you extracted verify if you have the fastboot.exe and some other files.
  4. Turn OFF your HTC Droid Incredible device.
  5. Remove the device’s battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery back into the smartphone Now still in the OFF mode, press and keep holding the Volume Down+Power buttons together at the same time.
  7. You  have to enter in the Bootloader menu, so when it displays the first menu, select the bootloader option.
  8. Now, connect your smartphone with your Windows computer using the original USB cord.
  9. From your Desktop PC, open a CMD window (Command Prompt Window). For doing that you need to press and hold the key Shift from your keyboard and right-click in the same time on any space on the Desktop. After that choose Open command window here.
  10. In the CMD window, you need to enter following command line.
  11. Replace recovery.img with the actual name of the recovery image, that you previously downloaded it: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  12. After the ClockworkMod Recovery has been successfully installed, enter the next command line: fastboot reboot

Congratulations! now you successfully flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery on your HTC Droid Incredible 2.
After the CWM has been successfully installed, you can move to the next section, where I will teach you how to Root the HTC Droid Incredible 2 device.

How to Root the HTC Droid Incredible 2 smartphone

  1. First, download the Superuser ZIP from file here and save it in your Desktop PC
  2. Second,, connect your HTC smartphone to your PC using the USB cord.
  3. Copy and paste the Superuser ZIP archive in the device’s SD card, over to the root path.
  4. After you successfully transferred the archive, disconnect your smartphone from the Computer.
  5. Now, turn off the HTC smartphone and after that, reboot the smartphone into Recovery Mode.
  6. For doing that you need to press and keeping holding the Volume Down+ Power at the same time.
  7. From the Recovery Mode select Recovery option.
  8. Now from there, select install zip from sdcard.
  9. After that choose choose zip from sdcard and get browse and get the Superuser ZIP file that you copied before and flash it.
  10. After the Superuser ZIP file has been successfully flashed,go back to the recovery menu, and choose  reboot system now. After that  your device will take a reboot.

That’s all, now you successfully learnt how to root the HTC Droid Incredible 2. To verify if your device has been rooted, you should have the Superuser application installed on your Applications tab.
