How to Root the HTC EVO 4G

How to Root the HTC EVO 4G –complete guide:

  1. First, download Root Package from here and save it in your PC on the Desktop.
  2. After the download is completed, extract the Root Pack to the PC Desktop. Make sure to have the fastboot.exe file on your Desktop.
  3. Turn off your HTC EVO 4G device.
  4. Now boot your smartphone into bootloader mode, to do that press and the same time and keep holding Volume down+Power buttons together and after this combination of buttons you should enter in the bootloader mode.
  5. From this menu, select Fastboot option, for doing that use the Power button.
  6. Connect your smartphone to your computer, and for that use the original USB cord.
  7. Open a CMD (Command Prompt Window) on your Desktop. To do that you need to press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and after that with the Shift key pressed and keep holding the right click on any empty area on the desktop.
  8. After that select Open command window here option.
  9. After the CMD window is opened enter the next command line: fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-supersonic-v2.3.img
  10. Now wait till this command finishes installing the custom recovery on your smartphone.
  11. On your smartphone using the Power button, select Bootloader option and after that select Recovery option.
  12. Now from the Recovery menu, select USB-MS toggle option.
  13. The smartphone will be shown as a disk drive device on your computer.
  14.  Move the CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip file you downloaded and extracted from the Root Pack to the root folder of your smartphone’s SD memory card.
  15. In the Recovery menu, select Flash zip from sdcard option and after that Choose zip from sdcard.
  16. Find and choose the file that you copied in the step 12, and select it for installing.
  17. The last step is to reboot your smartphone after the file has been successfully installed.
