Yesterday at IFA, Samsung announced during its Unpacked Episode 2 event the fourth generation of Galaxy Note family. The terminal offers a number of features expected and a few surprises.
As we already know from unofficial information appeared on the web, Galaxy Note 4 borrow from the new design with which the Galaxy Alpha appeared.
Galaxy Note 4 uses a frame made of aluminum, which is anodized laterally to match the color of the back cover and to have only the edges bevelled and polished to reveal the color of the base material and the buttons are made of the same material.
The back cover is manufactured from a plastic material which imitates leather texture, and the sewn edges are gone and the tactile sensation is much better.
Galaxy Note 4 keeps the 5.7 ” diagonal of the previous generation, but with increased screen resolution to Quad HD and the AMOLED panel promises a full sRGB coverage and 80 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB spectrum. AMOLED panel uses the same PenTile Diamond matrix like Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3.
The screen is covered by Gorilla Glass 3 protective case, and Samsung uses a manufacturing technology called 2,5 D.
The hardware platform is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip that offers four Krait 450 cores clocked at 2.7 GHz with Adreno 420 graphics processor. The device also features 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal memory expandable via microSD cards, an LTE Cat 6 modem and battery with a capacity of 3220 mAh.
As expected, on the list of endowments we have pulse and fingerprint sensors that we saw at Galaxy S5 handset.
Galaxy Note 4 provides a rear camera with a resolution of 16 MP with optical stabilization and a front camera with a resolution of 3.7 MP with f / 1.9 aperture and panoramic capture mode with an opening of 120 degrees.
Plus, the company has made improvements to S Pen stylus, and the screen’s digitizer now offers 2048 levels of pressure versus 1024 of the previous model and allows detection of fine movements such as spins, angles and speed changes.
Galaxy Note 4 will hit the market in October in white, black, pink and gold color options.
Regarding the price it seems that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will cost somewhere between €795 and €799 in the Netherlands, according to a leak.
The GSMwijzer, Smartphone Shop, Studentmobiel and Belsimpel retailers have already priced for the device on their sites.
In the UK, several carriers and retailers have also expressed their will to carrying the device like Phones 4u to offer the Galaxy Note 4 in the exclusive Gold color. Carphone Warehouse has a registration form and Everything Everywhere (EE) has confirmed that will carry the device.
