Samsung Galaxy J7 users have started to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat official update with firmware version J710FXXU3BQHE. The Nougat update is being rolled out via OTA which means you should receive the notification on your device anytime now. If the update is not available for the moment, you can choose to manually download and install it by using the ODIN tool.

Based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the update has the build number J710FXXU3BQHE and was released for Galaxy J7 2016 devices in United Arab Emirates. The update size quite huge in size and its features are: new UX, improved usability of notification feature and quick settings button, better settings menu, enhanced usability of multi window option, new Dual Messenger feature, more efficient system update process, more space for installation of downloaded apps and August security patches.
Before starting the manual installation process of this new update, check the following prerequisites and guidelines:
- Use this tutorial only for the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 models. Check the model of your Galaxy device and make sure that is the SM-J710F version. Don’t try this post for other different devices. This guide is for advanced users only.
- Download from here the Samsung USB drivers and install them on your computer.
- On your device, enable USB Debugging from the Developer Options menu. If the Developer Options menu is hidden, go to Settings-> About Device-> Software Info and tap seven times repeatedly on the Build Number section. The Developer Options will now be visible under Settings.
- Odin will help you flash the Android 7.0 Nougat update for your device. The tool is capable of flashing the new update over rooted firmware, but you need to know that the root access won’t survive the update.
- In case you have installed a custom ROM, you can flash the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but you need to Factory Reset the device after the update is completed. Note that the Factory Reset process wipes clean the system partition of your device but will not remove files from the internal storage. You will find the steps for Factory Reset listed at the end of the tutorial.
How to flash Android 7.0 Nougat Update for Samsung Galaxy J7- J710F:
- Download from herethe Android 7.0 Nougat update file on your computer. When the download is over you, unzip the archived files.
- Download from here Odin 3.12.3 zip and unzip the contents.
- Launch ODIN exe on your computer.
- Power off your Galaxy J7 device and boot it into “Download Mode” (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons together).
- Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable. If the device is not recognized you have to reinstall the Samsung USB drivers.
- In Odin, make sure Re-partition is NOT ticked, only the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes have to be checked.
- Click the AP button in ODIN and load the firmware file with tar extension.
- Click START to begin the Android 7.0 update and don’t press anything until the update process is over.
- When the installation is over you will see the PASS alert and the device will reboot.
If ODIN displays the FAIL alert or any other error stops you from completing the update, then you have to repeat the tutorial.
If ODIN shows the PASS alert, but the device enters a boot loop, or it gets stuck at the boot animation screen, will have to Factory Reset it. The Factory Reset process needs to be applied also if you have installed the Android 7.0 update over a custom ROM.
How to Factory Reset the device
- Power off the device
- Boot it into Recovery Mode.
- Select “wipe data/ factory reset”.
- Reboot the device in normal mode.
