Update Galaxy S3 I9305 4G LTE with Android 4.4.4 XXUFNI3 KitKat Firmware

The Samsung Galaxy S3 4G LTE model can now be flashed with new Kitkat Android 4.4.4 OS and here is a step by step guide on how to manually flash the device using ODIN on your Samsung Galaxy S3 device.

Before installation, make a full backup to your smart phone and save your data, contacts, call logs, internet settings, videos, images, audio files, and everything you will need. To make your backup, you can also use suitable applications from Google Play Store.

In addition, during installation a Window based computer systems is required and ensure that you have USB cable near you. You will be required to deactivate your security protections like firewalls, antivirus, antimalware etc that might interfere with the installation process.

Following the deactivation, enable USB debugging option on your Samsung Galaxy S3 device from Menu> Setting> Developer Options.

Also ensure that the device battery is more than 70% as during installation, the device might get forced power in middle.

Note:

This post if for 4G LTE model of Samsung Galaxy S3 devices and Android 4.4.4 KitKat XXUFNI3 has been released by Samsung only for this device. You are advised not to use this for any other model as it will brick the device.

How to Update Galaxy S3 I9305 4G LTE with Android 4.4.4 XXUFNI3 KitKat Firmware

  1. Download the Android 4.4.4 XXUFNI3 KitKat firmware file and save it on your PC
  2. Now download ODIN and Samsung KIES and save them on your computer desktop as well
  3. Unzip the ODIN application and install it
  4. Install the Samsung KIES app and then use it for installing the appropriate Galaxy S3 USB drivers on your PC
  5. Open Odin on your PC and power off your Android device
  6. Press and hold the power, volume down, and home buttons simultaneously to enter the device into download mode.
  7. Use the Galaxy S3 device USB cable and connect the device to your PC
  8. You will get an “Added” message on your ODIN software and that the ID:COM section will be colored yellow or blue.
  9. If no added message is displayed then reinstall the drivers and repeat the same steps
  10. Next from ODIN app, select the PA option and search and pick the downloaded file from desktop
  11. Do not make further changes and click on Start button from the app
  12. This will start the update operation

In the end, a Pass message will be displayed and the ID:COM section will turn green color.

Troubleshooting:

In case your S3 device enters in boot loop then force enter your device to recovery mode and from recovery option, choose “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”. In the end, go back to the main menu and select Reboot System Now.

Now you have to install the firmware on your device and you are done
