Update Galaxy S3 Mini I8190L to Official Android 4.1.2 UBAMC1 Jelly Bean Firmware

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190L device has received its latest official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update named UBAMC1 firmware. This latest firmware has PDA: I8190LUBAMC1, CSC: I8190LICEAMC1 and it is based on 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform. This guide is provided to help all S3 Mini GT-18190L users who have not received this latest update by OTA and want to install manually the UBAMC1 firmware.

 

Pre-requisites:

  • All instructions are applicable only for Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini model number I8190L. Do not try the same for any other device.
  • Verify whether it is for the right model from the following path: Settings > About Phone.
  • Download and install the proper USB drivers on the PC. You can download Galaxy S3 Mini I8190L USB drivers from the link.
  •  Backup all your data, applications and settings on your Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 device.
  • We’ve strongly recommend to have a custom recovery tool such as CWM or TWRP custom recovery.
  • You’ll use this tool to get a full Nandroid backup for your actual ROM running on your device flashing another one. This Nandroid backup represents a restoring point.
  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode from your smartphone required to ensure the connection between the PC and your device.
  • Make sure your device has enough power level in the battery to successfully complete this installation of new firmware.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini need to be factory unlocked.
  • Make sure your device has installed and running a custom recovery image such as CWM recovery on it.
  • This tutorial use ODIN app which is developed only for Windows OS. If you have Linux or Mac OS PC, you should to use an application emulating an environment to run ODIN app.
  • All instructions are meant for educational and instructional purpose only. Do not blame us or held liable if you damage in any way during or after installing this new firmware. Use this tutorial only at your own risk.

How to Install stock Android 4.1.2 UBAMC1 Jelly Bean firmware on Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190L

  1. FirstDownload UBAMC1 JB Stock firmware file and save it in your PC.
  2. Download Odin v3.07 on your PC.
  3. Now, extract the downloaded archived zip file to your PC, recommended in the desktop. Verify if you have a ‘.tar.md5? file and occasionally you can have some other files.
  4. Install the Odin application in your PC, if it is an archive, extract and make sure you have the ODIN 3.07.exe on the extracted folder and a few other files.
  5. Now, power off the S3 Mini smartphone complete. Remove its battery and wait around 5 seconds and after that insert its battery in its location.
  6. Boot the smartphone into Download Mode, to do that thing you need to press and keep holding Volume DownHome and Power button at the same time until a “Warning!” message is displayed, now press Volume Up button for confirm entering into Download Mode.
  7. Open Odin3 v3.07.exe as an Administrator in your PC;
  8. Connect the smartphone to PC using its USB cable.
  9. Now, look on the ODIN interface and when the smartphone is connected successfully, you must have in interface’s Odin a message box that will say “Added!”.
  10. In case the message “Added!” doesn’t appear, you have to disconnect your phone from the PC and reconnect it in another USB port and reinstall the suitable USB drivers again on your PC.
  11. Now if, the ODIN app displays the “Added!!” message, you need to verify to have the ID: COM box colored yellow and a COM port number with it.
  12. Now, you need to choose the flashing files for loading in the ODIN app from  the extracted folder I8190LUBAMC1 folder (extracted in the Step 3), for that follow the next steps:
    • From ODIN select the PDA checkbox, browse and load the file that have  ‘.tar.md5’ (It is must to be load and required)
    • From ODIN app, select the Phone checkbox, navigate and select the file that contains ‘modem’. If this file isn’t there, you can ignore this step and move to the next step.
    • Now, click on the CSC checkbox from the ODIN app, browse and load the file that contain in its name ‘CSC’, if this file is missing then ignore this step.
    • Next, choose the PIT checkbox, navigate and load the .pit file. In case,  this file isn’t there you can ignore this step.

Important: make sure that in Odin app the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options must to be enable, to do that select the respective checkboxes.

  1. In case you’ve loaded the .pit file previously, ensure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected
  2. Make sure the previous steps are done correctly.
  3. Now, when you want to begin the flashing process, click on the START button from ODIN.
  4. Wait until the firmware process is done, and your smartphone will get to take an automatically reboot.
  5. When the flashing process is done the ODIN app will display a PASS message with a green background at the top of ODIN app.
  6. Now, disconnect the smartphone from the PC by removing its USB cord.

Congratulations, now you successfully installed the firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini device.

Troubleshooting and solutions to solve the issues:

  • In case the Samsung Galaxy S3 device is stuck in the first part of its boot or when the Samsung Logo is displayed you have to do:
  1. Force it to reboot into Recovery Mode. To do that press and keep holding the Volume UP + Home + Power buttons simultaneously. You’ll use the Volume keys for navigating between the menu options and for confirming you’ll use the Power button
  2. Now, from the main menu of the Recovery Mode perform “Wipe data/Factory Reset” and after that “Wipe Cache Partition”.
  3. Now, back in the main menu of Recovery Mode menu and from there select Reboot System Now.

Important: When you do a wiping task all the data stored in your internal ‘device memory will be erased, So take a full backup.
