Update HTC One X+ to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean AOKP Custom ROM

Now it is a golden opportunity for the HTC ONE X+ users who can receive the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update AOKP custom ROM. To flash it on your device we have brought a tutorial. This is a step-by-step guide and you don’t need to skip any step. Read carefully and follow in letter and spirit.

Pre-requisites and Guidelines:

  • This tutorial and all the instructions given here are only for the HTC ONE X+ model. So don’t apply the same for any other similar device, you’re risking your device by doing so. To verify your device model, follow the next path: Settings > About Phone on your Android smartphone.
  • Important: Back-up all your personal and important data, applications and settings on the smartphone. For saving the SMS use the SMS back-up and Restore app, for saving call logs you can use Call Logs back-up and restore app, sync your contacts by sync them with the Gmail account, save your personal data like music files, images files, documents or any other important files on the cloud or locally. Make a full back-up of your actual ROM that you’re actually running on your device, using the NANDROID back-up tool from the CWM or TWRP custom recovery app.
  • Install the proper drivers on your windows PC for HTC ONE X+ device. If you don’t have them, you can download the same from here.
  • Your device must be 80 % charged to complete this process otherwise an unexpected power off may be experienced during the flashing process.
  • Enable the USB Debugging mode on your smartphone from the following path: Settings > Developer Options for devices that are running the Android 4.0 or later, Settings > Developer Options for devices that are running the Android 2.3 or earlier.
  • Your HTC One + device needs to be a factory unlocked smartphone, and it shouldn’t be locked with a specific carrier.
  • Your HTC One X+ device needs to be rooted and to have a CWM recovery tool installed on it.
  • To see if your device is rooted or not, you need to download the Root Checker app from the Google Play Store and verify the device’ root status.

How to Update HTC One X+ to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean AOKP custom ROM

  1. First of all, download  the Android 4.2.1 AOKP Jelly Bean ROM from here.
  2. Then download the  Google Apps to the PC from here.
  3. Now connect your smartphone to the PC using the USB cable.
  4. Move the downloaded zip files to the smartphone’s SD card. Do not extract the zip archives and place these zip files on the root folder on your device’ SD card.
  5. Power off your device, and after that boot the smartphone into Bootloader mode. To do that you need to press and keep holding the Volume Up +Home button simultaneously and with these two buttons press the Power button. Repeat the steps if your smartphones enter in other modes.
  6. From the Bootloder mode, navigate on the Recovery option and place the smartphone in the Recovery Mode. Also you can place the device in the CWM recovery.
  7. Now, from the CWM recovery mode, select Wipe Data/Factory Reset and after that perform Wipe Cache Partition.
  8. Now, select the Install Zip from SD card option and then select Choose Zip from SD card. Browse the copied custom AOKP ROM zip file and flash it.
  9. Wait until the new custom ROM flashing process is done.
  10. After the installation process completes, click Go Back and select the Reboot System Now.
  11. Now, repeat the same procedure from the step 6 for flashing the Google app in your device. This pack installs all the Google application on your device.
  12. After the installation is complete, your smartphone need to be booted in the normal mode. Remember that the first boot can take a couple of minutes to complete. So don’t lose your patience.

Note: If the HTC ONE X+ device is stuck at the logo booting animation or it is entering into a boot loop, you need to long press on the Power button and repeat all the steps from the beginning.
