How To Install Android 4.4.4 KitKat Custom ROM To Samsung Galaxy S I9000

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 device; you must want to install the New Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware on your device.  This article for you only as you will learn how to install the new Cyanogen Mod 11 custom ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware.

The new KitKat 4.4.2 OS has new features and capabilities which is not available in the official Jelly Bean 4.1 Android firmware. Though, Samsung won’t release the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, but thanks to the Cyanogen Mod team, we can install this new build on the Galaxy ACE 2 devices.

Before to start the installation procedure, you must follow the following pre-requisites:

Take the backup of your data stored on your Samsung Galaxy ACE2 device. You can save SMS by using the SMS backup and Restore application, save your contacts by Sync with the Gmail application, Call Logs by using the call log and restore application, Images, songs, files, videos by copying to internal to external SD Card.

  • In addition, save the APN and MMS Settings as following: Applications>Settings>Wireless and Network> Mobile Networks>Access Point Names”.
  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode from the next path: Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging
  • Device’s battery charge level should be more than than 70 % or else your device might take a forced power off in the middle of the installation process.
  • This new firmware is a custom ROM and you will need to make sure that your device is rooted. Use the Root Checker app for this purpose.
  • Just in case if the Galaxy ACE 2 device isn’t rooted then you need to gain the root access on the device.

Don’t backup your device with the ROM Manager application.

How to Update Sasmung Galaxy ACE 2 with custom Kitkat 4.4.2 Android Firmware:

  • Download Cyanogen Mod 11 Firmware Package.
  • Now, download Google Apps Package from the link ,and save these files to your PC.
  • Copy them in the ACE2 device.
  • Power off the device.
  • Boot it into Recovery Mode. (Press and keep holding the Home +Power + Volume UP buttons together).
  • From the recovery mode, select Clear Data and then Wipe Cache. Move to next step, once the data is cleared.
  • Select the option of  install zip from sd card,  select the firmware zip file that you copied above.
  • Repeat the above step to flash the Google Applications Pack.
  • Wait around 4-5 minutes to install both zip files in your device.
  • Select Go back, select the option of “reboot in normal mode”, to reboot the device.  It will take 4-5 minutes.

Troubleshooting:

  • If your device is not booted into normal mode, , boot the device again into recovery mode,  clear the cache, and wipe the data, then reboot the device in the normal mode.
  • If the Galaxy ACE2 device enters into boot loop sequence, turn off the device and then repeat the above steps
  • To verify the new firmware installed on the device go to Settings>About Phone and you can find KitKat 4.4.2.
