Update Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 to Android 4.1.2 VJMS4 Jelly Bean stock firmware

A new software update is now available for Samsung Galaxy S2 model number I9100. This latest update is named VJMS4 and is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware build. It teaches you how you can successfully install the new update to S2 I9100 model.

 

The new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean VJMS4 firmware is for Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 International edition, and this means you can install it for any S2 I9100 unlocked smartphone.

This update is official firmware released by Samsung and you will restore the warranty for S2 I9100 devices.

This present update is  one of the newest Android Jelly Bean OTA update available for Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100.

This update doesn’t come with significant changes for your device. It has been rolled out for Brazil S2 owners, but you can manually install the same, and after that you can switch between languages and to chose the language you want.

This is for all users who didn’t receive this latest update by OTA, before starting to learn how to install the same on the S2 device you need to follow some pre-requisites.

This guide works only with Samsung Galaxy S2 model number I9100 international version.

Do not install this firmware for any incorrect smartphone or tablet, you can brick or damage your device.

Installing this new officially update, the same will revoke the root access the device had been rooted.

For installing the new update, we will use the ODIN app which is and flashing tool developed by Samsung.

 How to manually Install Android 4.1.2 VJMS4 Jelly Bean official firmware for Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

  1. Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean VJMS4 zip file from HERE and save the same in your computer.
    Now, extract the content of the downloaded zip file and place the content in one single folder on your desktop PC folder.
  2. Make sure you have extracted the zip file a  .tar.md5 file, do not extract ant other than the previous action.
  3. Next, download the ODIN 3.07 version zip file from here, save it in your PC and extract the same in one single folder on your desktop PC folder.
  4. Turn off the S2 device.
  5. Boot it into Download Mode menu.
  6. Open the ODIN exe file on your computer.
  7. Now, connect the smartphone with your computer using the USB cable.
  8. Now, wait for ODIN recognize the device and say the smartphone has been „added!!”
    In case the S2 device isn’t recognized,you need to disconnect the smartphone form PC, and change the USB port and reinstall the USB drivers once again.
  9. Now, from the ODIN app, click the PDA button and then browse your PC for the extracted file (in step 2) and select the same and load it into ODIN app.
  10. Make sure that the Re-partition option is disabled on the ODIN app settings. Now don’t make any other change at the default Odin settings.
  11. When all the above steps are correctly followed, press the START button for starting the flashing process.
  12. Now, wait until the installation process is complete and when it is done the device will reboot into normal mode.
  1. Congratulation, the manual installation of Android 4.1.2 firmware is completely done

Troubleshooting and tips:

In case Odin firmware is not successfully installed, or the ODIN’s interface freezes, you can follow the steps given below.

In case ODIN says „Pass” message but the Galaxy S2 device doesn’t want to pass over the Samsung boot animation logo, you have to do a factory reset.

Note: performing a factory reset all the data stored on the internal memory will be deleted, but this action will make the device boot into normal mode. You need to save all of your important data.

The Samsung Galaxy S2  I9100 device should now boot into normal mode and to run the new Android 4.1.2 VJMS4 Jelly Bean firmware
