Update Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (LTE) to Official Android 4.3 I9505XXUEMKE JB with Bug-Fixes

Good news for all Samsung Galaxy S 4 users! This device user has a new option now, which upgrades their mobile handset. They have started to receive the new Android 4.3 bug-fix update named I9505XXUEMKE, starting with Germany, France and UK.

The new Firmware comes with stability for Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 devices and it is the Firmware build in the month of November, released by OTA and through Samsung KIES software.

If you failed to receive the new update, you can go to Settings>About Phone and from there select Software updates menu.

This step-by-step guide is released for the S4 users who want to install the latest Android 4.3 I9505XXUEMKE Jelly Bean Firmware by using a manual guide.

Prerequisites:

How to install the Official Android 4.3 XXUEMKE Jelly Bean Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 (LTE) GT-I9505 device

  1. Download the update file of (Jelly Bean I9505XXUEMKE) from here save it in your PC and extract the same by using winzip or 7zip applications to obtain the .tar.md5 and some other files.
  2. Now, download ODIN v3.07 and extract its zip content to obtain the ODIN3 v3.07.exe file and some other additional files.
  3. Turn off the device completely and boot it into Download Mode. To enter Download Mode, you need to press and keep holding Volume Down, Power and Home buttons simultaneously until an icon with a construction Android and a warning triangle appears on the display screen. Then press the Volume Up button in order to enter Download Mode Menu.
  4. Open Odin application on your PC as Administrator and then connect the phone device to the computer by using its USB cord, while keeping the smartphone still into Download Mode Menu.
  5. Now, if the smartphone is connected successfully into ODIN, interface the ID: COM boxes will be colored blue and additionally, the corresponding COM port number, and the “Added” message will be displayed on the display.
  6. Note: In case the “Added” message fails to appear, you need to re-install the USB drivers and connect the smartphone to another USB port on PC.
  7. Next, select the files that need to be flashed in the S4 device, which can be found from the downloaded and extracted Firmware file folder at the first step on this step-by-step guide.
  8. From ODIN, click ‘PDA’ button and then select the file that contain .tar.md5 extension.
  9. Click the ‘Phone’ button and from there select the file with ‘MODEM’ word in its name. If this file is not there, ignore this step.
  10. Tap the ‘CSC’ button and select the file with ‘CSC’ in its name. Ignore this step if there is no such file.
  11. Hit the ‘PIT’ button and load the .pit file. Ignore this step, if you don’t find a file with this extension.
  12. Now, ensure that the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options in ODIN are enabled. Uncheck the Repartition option, unless you used a .pit file as I specified in the previous step.
  13. Next, click Start in ODIN application and the flashing process starts.
  14. Wait to complete the installation process; it can be done in just a few minutes.

Once the flashing process is complete, your smartphone will reboot automatically, and when the home screen appears, you need to disconnect the smartphone from the PC.

The Galaxy S4 (LTE) I9505 device is now successfully updated with the latest Android 4.3 XXUEMKE Jelly Bean Firmware.

Verify the new Firmware version from Settings>About Phone.

Troubleshooting and solutions to solve the issues:

In case the Galaxy S4 device gets stuck at the first boot animation you need to:

Press and keep holding the Volume UP, Power and Home buttons simultaneously to enter Recovery Mode.

From recovery mode perform Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition operations.

Return to main menu of Recovery Mode and select Reboot System Now task.

Important: When a wiping task is performed you need to delete all the device’ internal memory data but not the data stored into external SD card.
