It’s performances can be improved by a custom ROM based on Android 4.3.2 Jelly Bean firmware. We will show you how to install the new custom ROM named OmiROM based on the Android 4.3 JB firmware on the Sony Xperia S device. According to the OmniROM developers the ROM is a custom OS based on stock Android 4.3.1 JB OS.

Prerequisites:

  • The OmniROM is a custom ROM developed by a third party devs of the xda-developers team, we thank them for his great work.
  • Keep in mind,  the OmniROM is a free aftermarket distribution of custom ROM based on Android 4.3.1 system available for Sony Xperia S device. So, knowing that, this ROM isn’t an official update released by Sony..
  • All of these released instructions can be used only for Sony Xperia S device.
  • By using this step by step guide, you need to know that Sony Xperia S device’s warranty will get void, and it can be restored only if you’ll downgrade or update the device to stock or official Android OS.
  • Note: After you install a custom ROM via the Sony Xperia S device the OTA updates cannot be applied on device automatically and these updates can be flashed only if you’ll use a manual step by step guide. The OmniROM firmware brings features and enhancements that aren’t available by default on the official Jelly Bean firmware. There you’ll find a custom and improved Android 4.3.1 UI and you will be able to optimize and improve the performances of the Xperia S device.
  • Once you have this custom ROM installed, you will see an improved battery life, a better web browsing experience, and you’ll have the access to the internal system of the Xperia S device.
  • A necessary condition to install the OmniROM custom ROM is that, you will have to root the Sony Xperia S device.
  • After the root access is gained, you need to install a custom recovery image such as CWM or TWRP recovery.
  • Take the back up of  all your data stored into device’s internal memory before going any further, a wipe operation will be required and all data stored into device’s internal memory will be erased. So, if you don’t want to lose  your personal data use suitable backup and restore application from Google Play Store and don’t forget to get a Nandroid backup on the Sony Xperia S device for saving the actual ROM.
  • During this step by step guide, a notebook or a PC will be required. Moreover, the Sony Xperia S device and its USB cable will be necessary.
  • Deactivate the security protection tools in both computer and Xperia S device, because these kinds of programs might interfere with the installation process.
  • Moreover, the device must have in its battery more than 60% power left.  in the other case,  the device will receive a forced power off in the middle of the flashing process and this unexpected event can brick the device.
  • Remember that, the present step by step instructional guide is compatible with the Sony Xperia S device only and do not try to use the same for any other incorrect device.
