Update Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Exynos to Android 4.4.2 N900XXUDNA6 OTA firmware [Guide]

Today we will present you a step by step guide about how to install the new Android 4.4.2 N900XXUDNA6 OTA Update on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Exynos device. The guide will use the ODIN application and the tar.md5 file that is the official Android 4.4.2 file.

Yesterday, we have published an article about this new released, and we had promised that we will provide you a manually method about how to install the same on Galaxy Note 3 device.

Prerequisites:

  • This step by step guide is provided only for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900 device, the Exynos Octa model. So, do not flash the same in any other different device.
  • Do not install this file for Note 3 LTE model, the guide for this variant can be found here.
  • Download and install the suitable USB drivers on your PC, you can use the next link from here.
  • Ensure that all the antivirus applications and the Samsung KIES app which are running on your PC will be stopped during or after the installation process.
  • If the Note 3 Exynos device has a custom ROM firmware, after the installation of this new official update all data will be erased.  So, the files from the system partition will be deleted, while the internal and external storage will be left undeleted.
  • Backup all your important data before beginning the installation process.
  • If the Galaxy Note 3 Exynos device running a stock Android OS the data will not be affected by the installation of the new Android 4.4.2 KK update.
  • From Developer Options enable the USB Debugging mode.
  • Backup all the installed application from your device by using the Helium application.

  • Ensure that the device’s battery power level is more than 60 %, so that the smartphone won’t get a forced power off in the middle of the installation process.
  • Read all the steps listed here and do not skip any of them.

How to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat N900XXUDNA6 for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900:

  1. Download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat file from here or here.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file to obtain the N900XXUDNA6_N900SERDNA6_N900XXUDNA1_HOME.tar.md5 file. DO not make any further unzip than that.
  3. Download the ODIN 3 v3.09 from here save it and extract the contents of the zip archive.
  4. Turn off the device.
  5. Boot the Note 3 device into Download Mode, you can find a guide about that here.
  6. Open the ODIN 3.09 exe file on your PC.
  7. Connect the Note 3 with your computer by using the USB cable.
  8. Wait for ODIN application to recognize the device. Note: if the device isn’t detected by the ODIN application, then you need to reinstall once again the USB drivers.
  9. When everything is set, and the smartphone was recognized by ODIN you can move to the next step
  10. From ODIN app, click on AP button and then load the N900XXUDNA6_N900SERDNA6_N900XXUDNA1_HOME.tar.md5
    file.
  11. Ensure that the Re-Partition option is not enabled and do not change other default settings from ODIN application.
  12. Now, press START button when you want to start the flashing process of the new Android 4.4.2 KK on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Exynos device. Do not press any button until the installation process is done.
  13. When the flashing process is complete the ODIN application will say “PASS” message and the smartphone reboots in normal mode.
  14. Now, when the Galaxy Note 3 boot animation screen is displayed remove the USB cable from the PC.
  15. Wait for the Galaxy Note 3 to load all the files and when the home screen appear you can start to use the new system.

That’s all; you can now use the new official Android 4.4.2 KitKat Operating System on the Galaxy Note 3 N900 Exynos variant.

Troubleshooting:

If the ODIN application closes unexpectedly or freezes or the smartphone gets blocked, then you will be forced to repeat the entire step by step guide from above. Do not skip any steps from the step by step instructional tutorial from above.

If the ODIN application completes the flashing process, but the smartphone doesn’t boot into normal mode and rest into the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 animation, then you’ll have do a “factory reset” operation.

This process will delete all the data from the system partition. But the device will be forced to enter into Normal Mode. To do this you need to follow the next steps:

  • Turn off the smartphone totally.
  • Boot the device into Stock Recovery Mode Menu. (Press and keep holding the Volume Up, Home and the Power buttons simultaneous, when the Recovery Mode menu will be displayed release the buttons.
  • From the Stock Recovery Mode menu select wipe data/ factory reset’ and confirm.
  • When the wipe process is done select ‘reboot system now’
