As you know that Sony has launched its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean by OTA for Sony Xperia ZL device.  This new firmware is automatically rolled out only for locked device and un-rooted devices gradually by OTA, so in case you don’t want to wait anymore,  you need to use a manual installation guide.

For the moment,  Android 4.2.2 has been rolled out only for Xperia ZL model no C650Xand you’ll be able to install the latest 10.3.A.0.423 firmware only for it.

This new firmware is the official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, and it is a stable version released by Sony and Google.  So, applying this manual step by step guide you won’t get void the Sony Xperia ZL device and your device doesn’t need to be a rooted device for being available for apply this new firmware.

Before starting our step by step flashing guide, it needs some pre-requisites:   The warranty for the Xperia ZL device will not get void. In case,  your device is a rooted device or has a custom ROM firmware installed on it , if youinstall this official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean 10.3.A.0.423 firmware the warranty will be restored.

  • This is an official version of the Android 4.2.2 JB for Xperia ZL, and isn’t a beta or a custom ROM. How to Update Sony Xperia ZL to official  JB 4.2.2 10.3.A.0.423 Firmware – manually step by step guide:

  1. First, download the update file from here and save it on your PC, save the update firmware file on the Desktop folder on your computer.
  2. Second, download the flash tool from here, this tool will be used for installing the firmware on the Xperia ZL device.
  3. Now, install the flash tool on PC.
  4. Open the flash tool program by clicking on “Thunder” icon.
  5. From the opened window interface select “Flashmode” and then “OK”.
  6. Now, from the window that will open you have to click on”…”
  7. Next, browse and select the firmware file.
  8. Select and pick the .ftf update file from the location where you saved previously the downloaded file from PC desktop.
  9. Power off your smartphone.
  10.  Now, press the Volume Up button on the Sony Xperia ZL smartphone and while pressing Volume Up button, connect your device to the PC with the help of its original USB cable.
  11. Now, the Flash tool will start to install the update file.
  12. Now you have to wait and don’t press anything until the installing operation is complete.
  13.  In the end of flashing process,  your Sony Xperia ZL will get an automatic reboot, and it will boot for the first time on the new JB 4.2.2 10.3.A.0.423 Firmware OS.
  14. This first boot can during a few minutes, it is normal don’t panic, there is nothing wrong with your smartphone.
